The facilities felt outdated but still fairly well maintained. Room was large and had a nice view of the Bandai bridge. Got a cold on Sado island but I had a really nice sleep back to Niigata and felt completely recharged. Super kind and attentive staff. The lobby has chandeliers and a Bell Captain's desk, and a whisky bar upstairs. The room had a writing desk with printed stationery, a built-in international plug socket and cabled internet, a nightstand with a built-in radio and a pen and notepad by the phone, and a bathroom with a phone and a bottle opener attached to the wall. Even the cleaning staff wore the maid outfits with the cute little bonnets. Rooms were spacious, clean, bright with comfortable beds and linens. The hotel & restaurant service is beyond outstanding - despite the restaurant being closed (that served Cherries Jubilee ), the hosts graciously opened the restaurant for us and their chef prepared a spectacular Cherries Jubilee dessert for the 4 of us ! The Breakfast buffet was outstanding. A wonderful assortment of hot dishes including eggs, omelets, Japanese offerings, Cappucino's , salmon, fresh fruits, croissants and salads. Taxi service was readily available. The hotel is in an excellent location downtown with easy access to see sights and restaurants.
