The villa is born of the precious connection of art and knowledge of a father, skilful restorer, and his son, architect with innovative and eco-sustainable ideas. The result is a sophisticated, modern and at the same time profoundly Sicilian villa, ideal for those who are looking for an authentic holiday without renouncing style and comfort. You can access Villa nel Monte from a spacious and bright living room with sofa bed, a modern kitchen and access to the terrace and the panoramic garden. Upstairs you will find three bedrooms, all equipped with windows and air-conditioning. Two bathrooms with shower are one in the living area and the other in the sleeping area. A third bathroom and a fourth bedroom are located in the independent annexe, just below the terrace and closer to the pool. At 5 minutes walk from the house is Nicolosi, a vibrant village known as the 'Porta dell'Etna' that offers numerous restaurants, shops and sports facilities and is a must for those who wish to explore the largest volcano in Europe. In other words, you will have everything you need and more without ever having to take the car. Also, directly from the villa, a very nice path enriched by fruit trees leads to the top of Mount Mompilieri with a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Catania. When you are ready to leave Nicolosi and the wonders of Etna, with 20 minutes drive you can reach Catania with its baroque buildings, the ancient fish market, the shopping streets and a fine sandy beach. With just one hour drive, you will find Taormina, a world-class and elegant town, considered by many to be the pearl of the Mediterranean, and Siracusa, a fascinating and timeless town, with a romantic promenade and an ancient Greek theatre that cannot be missed. Whether you want to enjoy the Sicilian summer from a cooler and more privileged location or dream of skiing in winter on the snow of Mount Etna, Villa nel Monte is without a doubt one of the best holiday homes in this part of Sicily. The separate annex was perfect for the family of 4\. Villa is spacious and well-equipped and the owners left us a welcome pack of water/beer/cake/fruit ,which was appreciated, as well as a well stocked kitchen with pasta, coffee, tea etc. We arranged transfers to and from the airport with the owner rather than hiring a car which was perfect. Toti even took us to a local supermarket when we arrived to stock up on groceries. The Villa is a 10/15 minute walk in to Nicolosi which has numerous restaurants (although many close at lunchtime and all day Mon or Tues). A small supermarket is a 5 minute walk. There is a good size pool at the villa although the weather unfortunately didn’t encourage swimming. We were fortunate to see Etna in action from the villa one evening as the owner sent a message to take a look outside. Lidia and her mother were lovely and very accommodating, can’t fault them for being really flexible with us when we had a sick child to look after. The villa itself was beautiful and well stocked. The welcome cake by Lidia’s mum as others have mentioned was a lovely touch. We didn’t have the best weather but the view of Etna from the kitchen window when we saw it was amazing. Pool very nice but cold as you can imagine at the end of October! Cats were very friendly and we didn’t find them intrusive at all but there are neighbourhood dogs that come into the garden too but Lidia was able to get them back to their owner when we asked her to. Location wise it’s only a few minutes to a good selection of grocery shops and about 15-20 minutes to Nicolosi. It’s a good base to explore, we went to Aci Trezza and Taormina as well as took a trip up Etna with Ashàra tours which operate out of the south end of Etna. The location was very central for quick trips to Taormina, Siracusa, Etna. The home is amazing … beautiful grounds, lots of gathering places in the gardens, on the decks, near the pool. The space is open and clean, comfortable and full of everything we needed. The bedrooms are all very comfortable, 3 large full bathrooms, and the kitchen is a wonderful place to cook. The large dining room table was the perfect gathering spot for our group at the end of the day. Guilia was in communication with us the whole stay, giving helpful recommendations and responding to questions. Her mother welcomed us when we arrived and left us with a yummy tart, a bottle of homemade limoncello and other treats. … and yes, there are sweet kittens on the property who made our stay even more special. Well-appointed with thoughtful touches from baby bibs to outdoor table linens made our stay truly feel like home. The grounds are so well kept and elevate the ambiance. The location was ideal for day tripping to different areas around Sicily and perfect for walking into town for dinner. The host and her daughter Lidia went above and beyond to help us out with our requests for information etc. Highlights for us were the tour of Mount Etna with Lidia and visiting the many beaches Sicily has to offer. Lidia was easy to get hold of and recommended a couple of tour companies for us, we used one of her recommendations, Etnalcantara, and the tour was good. Lidia's mother met us at the villa and showed us where everything was and how much to feed the cats! It really is a short walk into town for bars, restaurants and a small supermarket. We found a homemade cake and the basics supplies such as milk, water, pasta, wine, beers... you even have a playground for the kids!!! The pool is great too. we can only recommand toti’s house !! The pool was perfect temperature and very clean. The hosts were spectacular and extremely kind, we felt very at home. They went above and beyond our expectations. The location was nice and central, easy to make day trips throughout Sicily as well as walking distance to the town. I highly recommend this place. I would love to return again. Pleasant areas by the pool, play area, breakfast area and barbecue. Very comfortable bed, quality linen, air conditioning. The kitchen is fully organized. There is everything you need for cooking. The house had everything we needed and some necessities left for us including a lovely cake. Plenty of room for 5 of us in the house. Felt very comfortable and homely. It also felt very secure. The outside was very well maintained with the lovely pool, lots of umbrellas and sun loungers. A lovely big outdoor table which we often used in the evening. The cats were very friendly and being cat owners we made friends easily! Nicolosi 10 mins walk with lovely restaurants and bars. With only a week there, it went very quickly as we went to Mount Etna, Taormina and Catania. Easily accessible with the car. We particularly enjoyed the days at the villa with the pool and peaceful surroundings. Guilia was great with any questions we had and Toti was around to make sure the pool was cleaned and cats fed. I would highly recommend this villa for a peaceful, private and relaxing holiday with family and friends.
