The La Grande Bastide is simply divine in every way. The service, especially Sylvie, was just wonderful. The view from the hotel is just stunning. The cool pool was heavenly on the hot days. My room was well-appointed, the bed very comfortable and the decor charming. The location is ideal as a home-base for day trips to Antibes, Nice, Eze or Monaco. Rita and Heinz, the proprietors, were just lovely. I will return, hopefully very soon!

Staff was very helpful. Lovely restaurant on property that serves breakfast and lunch. Shuttle to town of St Paul de Vence was a nice touch.

This hotel was beautiful and the view of St Paul de Vence in the background was stunning. It was very quiet and our room was comfortable (although a bit hot at night no matter how we fiddled with the temperature). The staff was very attentive and the free car rides to town were helpful although we always walked back due to all the French food we were indulging in. I would stay here again should I find myself in this area!

Very nice place, good service and welcoming staff. The only complaint was that since this was a business trip I booked the hotel because the website says 24 hr room service. This is NOT the case and NO ROOMSERVICE. There is not even a dinner at the hotel. There are places close-by but when one must work in the room that doesn't matter.

a bit disappointed.
Staff was nice and helpful, however the room was minuscule for the price which wasn't, toilets looked as if they would break if sitting on (makes horrible crackling sound...) the hotel is directly over the main road and so was our room, so fairly noisy although the traffic is light. breakfast not included in the price and pretty expensive again for what it is.

Very nice boutique hotel in a hillside setting.
Room and hotel were very clean in a beautiful hillside setting. WiFi worked well. Free parking on the premises but parking area was tight. They charge for breakfast and we chose to drive into town for breakfast. Great hotel to relax. Would recommend reserving a superior room rather than a standard room. Our room had no windows.

Hotel is situated conveniently to St. Paul. The courtesy shuttle to/from town was excellent and we enjoyed the walk home in the evenings (downhill 15-20mins). Heinz, Sylvia, Frederick and Michaela couldn't be more helpful and courteous. Pool area was comfortable with nice furniture with towels on tap. Delicious buffet breakfast. Beds very comfortable. Only very slight niggle...it would be nice to have fresh drinking water replenished in rooms every day...but I could of asked, but realised too late. Thank-you very much for making our stay so special and memorable. Helena&Paulxxx

Nice hotel close to St. Paul de vence
Beautiful hotel. You will need a car to reach it. Staff very helpful and friendly. The only thing missing from this hotel is a restaurant then it would be perfect. They do serve breakfast in the morning and have 24 hour room service. There are a couple of restaurants locally but you will have to book these in advance.

St. Paul de Vence charming hotel
The room was very cute and cottage -like. It was so nice and comfortable. The bed is located on the loft. The service was impressive! It's the best we've ever experienced! All of the staff members were so nice and helpful! They offer a great breakfast buffet or brunch. It's located on a hill with a beautiful view of St. Paul de Vence. They also offer a shuttle to St. Paul Village. It's a great get -away place!

Traffic noise impacts full relaxation
If you're some one who doesn't mind traffic noise you'll enjoy your stay - but this was the problem I had with this hotel - and in my view why it does't warrant a high rating. The rooms and the pool all face the main hill road going into St Paul de Vance and the traffic noise is clearly heard and pretty much non-stop - making it impossible to really relax at the hotel. Other than these issues the hotel was very pleasant with a cute pool and good breakfast. Staff were mostly pleasant but not especially warming. Our standard room was pretty small but aqequate with good decor , balcony with a view and bath / power shower and facilities . If you're without a car you might want to check with the hotel pair booking if their curtesy service to St Paul de Vance is in use (we were only told on arrival it wasn't - which if we hadn't had a car would have meant extra expense for taxi's) ...Luckily we did.

Beautiful little hotel with superb views and attentive staff. We did walk into St.Paul but,as frequently commented on,it isn't a pleasant walk. As well as meals in St.Paul ,we walked to eat downhill,in Colle-sur-Loup.Good restaurants there also.

Lovely hotel, great location, beautiful views
We stayed at La Grande Bastide for only one night, but everything about it was pleasing and enjoyable. From the moment we checked in until the time we left, everything seemed to have been curated with care. I would describe La Grande Bastide as more of an inn than a hotel - it didn't have the amenities that you would expect in a 4-5 star hotel - like 24 hour food, a bar, a fitness facility. But from my experience that adds to its charm. Lovely spot that I would highly recommend.

This Hotel is very pretty and has excellent views of St Paul de Vence. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is a very short distance outside the city centre of St Paul de Vence , but the hotel provide a very efficient shuttle. The breakfast is delicious, but beware that it is not included in the room rate.

Gorgeous small Hotel (14 rooms) on a steep incline
The cooked part of the self-service buffet-breakfast could be improved: watery, scrambled-eggs & fatty, undercooked, bacon that nobody we saw choose. Otherwise, the buffet was excellent. Rooms could be improved with a tea-&-coffee-facility, a mens' trouser-press & an iron + board for ladies. There was fresh fruit on arrival but no knife or plates to use with it, & no complimentary water. Oversights which can be easily rectified. The staff were charming, helpful, & knowledgeable throughout. The Hotel does not offer dinner & it is a tortuous route to the town, which needs transport. A list of recommended restaurants & an offer to book-in-advance would be helpful, as the best restaurant in the town was booked fully 3-weeks ahead, making reservations impossible.

Romantic getaway (plus Grand Prix!)
Stayed here as part of long weekend to see the Monaco Grand Prix for husband's 40th birthday. We arrived a little early but were welcomed warmly and had lunch sitting on the terrace overlooking the amazing view. Our room was large with a garden view in a country French style plus a large bathroom with jacuzzi bath. Water pressure and temperature were fantastic! We tried out the hot tub and small pool bother of which were nice. The hotel provides a buffet breakfast and light bites lunchtime menu but doesn't have a restaurant. There are plenty of places to eat nearby however. We had a lovely time and would definitely go back, staff were helpful and friendly and its a great little hotel.

This amazingly beautiful boutique hotel is situated within walking distance to St Paul De Vence. Its attention to detail in its decor is outstanding and the staff are very welcoming. We stayed here for one week in September and explored the surrounding area. I would definitely recommend this Hotel as one of my top places to stay in this region of France. I have travelled through out Europe over the years and this would be in my top five hotels . Many Thanks for a beautiful experience... I will return most definitely ..

Service second to none.
We loved our stay here and can't wait to return. Even when we realised the breakfast was not included, and initially thought this expensive, its worth it. All fresh and delicious. We had a hire car, and for us, this was required as one or two days centred around St Paul was enough. No complaints about this hotel... Staff were terrific.

Idyllic Setting and Charming Decor near St. Paul
My husband and I spent six nights at La Grande Bastide just outside of St. Paul de Vence and we would happily return. The staff is warm, helpful and knowledgable. The setting in the hills overlooking the perched village is picturesque and romantic. We had views of the Mediterranean and the walled village from our balcony. The room was small, but well appointed, pretty and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable, as well. The bathroom is small, but also well appointed, with room for storing toiletries on a shelf under the sink. The breakfast and light fare that is available throughout the day was delicious. The location of the hotel is a good base for exploring the western Riviera and villages nearby. We had hoped to drive to Aix, but it seemed too far for a day trip. We spent our days exploring and touring nearby sights, late afternoons by the pool and dinners at nearby restaurants. There are some excellent restaurants in St. Paul that serve typical Provincial cuisine.

Lovely hotel but over-priced.
This is a really nice hotel but grossly over-priced. I stayed in a standard room which was, again, really nice with great views of St. Paul village but nothing too special and certainly not worth the rate. The staff were very attentive and helpful.

lovely relaxing time!
excellent experience all round. grounds are manicured. hotel is spotless and well maintained. rooms are very comfortable and have good A/C. breakfast was the usual continental spread but with fresh fruit, yoghurt, muesli, various breads. free shuttle to St Paul Village which we used twice. Only downside was the beds are quite soft and we prefer a bit firmer mattress... ,
