Experience the Alexander Mckee House! Built in 1835 and once known to be the Schoolmasters house. Featured in numerous Niagara Books. Beautifully restored with all the modern amenities. Prime Location on the best street in old town. Park your car and walk to everything. A stones throw to Queen Street boutiques, fine dining, pubs & Clock Tower. Literally steps to Theatres, coffee shops, & Lake Ontario. Niagara-On-The -Lake Golf Course & Fort George just down the street. Only a short walk to numerous beautiful parks including Queens Royal & Simcoe just a short stroll away. Pack a picnic and head down to the waterfront and enjoy the 'lake views & Fort Niagara(which is on the American side of Niagara River). Guests love to relax on the porch with their morning coffee or an evening drink and watch the horse drawn carriages go by. There are 2 nice size bedrooms located on the second floor, with beautiful original pine plank flooring. The room is decorated with antiques and historic lighting. The bathroom is on the main level- fresh towels, soaps, shampoo, toilet, shower & all the essentials. Charming living room has a pull out sofa. The attention to historical detail is truly remarkable. If you close your eyes when the horse-drawn carriages go by, you could almost imagine yourself transported back to 1835\. The house is dark but has plenty of lighting, wide wooden floorboards, charming bedrooms.And, it has modern creature comforts like a dishwasher (not terribly common in rentals in this area), full new washer and dryer, modern locking system, off-street parking. Large, comfortable living room with good seating and a TV we didn’t use. Upstairs beds are very comfortable.The home is immaculate and the owners definitely ask a level of respect from visitors to keep it looking great (no shoes on inside — the norm in Canadian homes) to keep it that way.I wish I knew more about the heritage of the house: who was Alexander Mckee, what did it look like in 1835 when the home was built, and more. Overall a great stay, really comfortable and with a twist of history.One important note! The one bathroom that includes the shower is on the main floor off the kitchen, and the wooden stairs to the second floor are rather steep. Not ideal for nighttime trips to the loo, especially if you have any issues with balance or other. ##### Janet M.
