Nice hotel close to the falls

I usually come to The Oakes and enjoy my stay. This time I didn’t enjoy it as much. The sink in our room was clogged, our heater did not work and the water in the shower got extremely hot randomly multiple times. Overall the Oakes is a good hotel.

Hidden Fees and Unclean Room

Cons: No more hidden fees A more thorough cleaning of the rooms Better parking arrangement
Location: Restaurants and a Fun Zone.
Our experience started off with a struggle to even find where to park or enter the building. Once we made it inside to check in we were hit with an unexpected "hotel fee" which covered parking (in a park at your own risk parking lot), wifi ( that was very very slow and flaky) coffee and a ride to a restaurant for dinner. The main parking lot isn't big enough for the volume of the hotel but they provide an "over flow" parking area that leaves you further from the building and a steep icy incline to get to the door. At first our room looked very nice but as you looked closer it was rather unclean. The Jacuzzi tub had random hair in it and the mirrors surrounding it were not clean. The separate toilet and sink area were not clean either, also with random hair around the toilet and sink. It should be listed that when you get a room with a Jacuzzi it doesn't include its own shower as well. The bed was comfy and the view was nice but this isn't enough positive attributes to bring me back to this hotel for the cost of the room and the hidden fees. My next visit to the falls I will be staying at a hotel like the Comfort Inn because I know what to expect for when I stay there.

Nice view

Overall good place, nice room with falls view.However the parking fee of $30.00 caught me off guard and is a bit expensive.Havng said that we enjoyed ourselves and probably would return..

Terrible customer service

Worse stay at the Falls . Terrible customer service . Don’t let them put you on first 2 floors it’s an old motel wing that wouldn’t garner a 1star . Very slow check in , long waits to talk to front desk ... Old beds! Smells of old carpet.... I could keep going

Not the same

The Oakes when I first started going there was great. The hotel is starting to look run down the staff never asked if we need any help with our luggage or anything. I have recommended this hotel in the past and I won’t now as I feel the staff doesn’t seem to care about the guests.

It an OK. Hotel if you cant find anything better

Pros: The beds were comfortable and the staff was nice
Cons: More toiletries (or larger ones) and more towels. For a 4 person room, we didn't have enough. I washed my hair with hand soap.
Location: Very good location.
Overpriced and kind just OK hotel. The beds were comfortable and the staff was nice. Thats pretty much it. I also find all the extra taxes, fees and expensive parking a bit of a pain, especially when paying too much for the hotel to begin with. I would not stay there again.
