Charming Carriage House in Niagara's Wine Country

Historic cottage in Niagara Falls
A converted carriage house and former blacksmith shop with a rich history dating back to the 1800’s - fully updated with brand new modern amenities and a splendid garden. This is a one level plus loft bedroom, ideal for those who have challenges with stairs. Centrally located near the Falls, Niagara Parkway, Niagara-on-the-Lake, casinos, wineries and the largest outlet mall in Canada. A great gathering spot in any season with a full kitchen, laundry and outdoor space ready to entertain family and friends.

This updated and fully appointed space abounds with character and was originally used as a carriage house for the owner's horse and buggy. In the late 1800's it was converted into a blacksmith shop by the Swedish born Otto Lofgren who also ran the forge down the road at the Queenston Quarry. Relics from his days of black-smithing have been found on the premises and the stone carriage stair out front bares his family name.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE: this property being located on an historic crossroads has become a major entry point into Niagara. As a result, street traffic can often be very busy during the day but quiets down nicely at night.
Air-conditioned accommodations at this cottage offer fireplaces and coffee/tea makers. Rooms open to patios. Kitchens offer refrigerators, stovetops, microwaves, and cookware/dishes/utensils. Bathrooms include showers and hair dryers.

5/5 Excellent

One week in Niagara
The property exceeded our expectations. The home was comfortable and well maintained. We had everything we needed to have a most pleasant stay making use of the kitchen, patio and laundry. We used both the loft and the main floor bed rooms when our son stayed a few days. The gardens were really quite something. The rental helped us have a great vacation.

5/5 Excellent

Exquisite design
Gorgeous property, beautiful garden, and good location. Lori and Darren are lovely, showing us their art, and answering all our question about gardening.

5/5 Excellent

What a gem the coach house is! Great central location for your day trips.
I would given this property 100% five stars, but I think guests should be cognizant of exiting the driveway during the day... be careful, and this is remedied by backing in... tons of room in the driveway. Thanks Darren & Lori... this is our 1st vrbo experience and the bar has been set high.

5/5 Excellent

Great location and great hosts
Wonderful stay. Close enough to the falls that we could get an affordable Uber and not worry about parking. Close to Niagara on the lake and wineries. The property has a beautiful herb and vegetable garden that the owners told us to help ourselves to. They also greeted us with a delicious bottle of local wine. The house had everything we needed and was very clean. It was fun to sleep in the open loft. Would recommend
