Great choice if you want walking distance to beach. Room was clean and welcoming. Staff were very kind and had great customer service skills. I do think the building hallways need upgraded on windows and carpet.

I picked this property because of the good reviews. The staff at check in were very nice. The property is old. We were told at check in that they don't have room cleaning service. I had to call the front desk for wash cloths. The coffee pot was set on top of the refrig. , and we had to move it and a table close to an outlet to use it. No pen, paper or area info. in the room. The view of the ocean was nice. There was a very noisy group of teenage boys running and jumping around on the floor above us. The staff didn't do anything to quiet them. I ended up going upstairs to ask the group to quiet down. The restaurant was shut down, parking garage dirty, ceiling tiles falling off the roof.
Unfortunately this hotel needs a much needed renovation. We won't be staying there again.

The axiom "you get what you pay for" holds true for the Shilo Inn at Newport. I shouldn't have expected much. But this place is a dump and should be remodeled or razed completely. Peeling wallpaper. Filthy stairwells. Furniture that looked like Keith Moon threw it out the 2 story window, retrieved it, and threw out out again. Bunched up carpet. CRT TV. Horrible wi-fi.
Friendly staff who are clearly doing the best they can given that's its quite clear Shilo Inn management stopped caring about 10 years ago. .

Room clean, nice ocean view, but could hear people through the wall/door (our room had a connection door in it to the room next to us but we didn’t use it or have a need for it)

The beach access was great.
The staff were very friendly.
The room needs an air conditioner it got hot and stuffy in our room.
The refrigerator wasn’t working very well.
The room needs a broom so the sand can be swept.

When my wife and I arrived, it was an easy check in. The staff is great and work diligently to keep the facilities running. I would definitely recommend giving them your business. It is conveniently located near the local shops and restaurants.
