Visit to Newport, RI

Posted 29-Apr-2016
Pros: Helpful staff. Only 5 minutes from the main town of Newport. Clean, convenient, and spacious.
Cons: The lobby renovation completed.
Location: There are plenty of restaurants from Applebees to IHOP. We went to a winery that was about 10 minutes away. The town of Newport is only 5 minutes away
We had a really nice room. The only reason the overall is 4 and not 5 is because of the renovation going on. Everyone is super helpful. We had a problem with the toilet and as soon as I said it, the plumber was called and it was repaired immediately. We were thinking about staying another night and were offered a room at $10.00 less than we paid. I thought that was great Also, Applebees is right outside and has late night snacks at half price. You even get either a small balcony or patio. I would definitely stay there again. Great staff.....

Very pleased

Hotel lobby area under construction to make it bigger and add two conference rooms. Construction is to be completed by May 3 but it didn't effect our stay. Breakfast limited to continental only but once construction is over they said it will be extended to a greater offering. Hotel staff was very pleasant and helpful. No elevator was only negative for us. Easy access to restaurants. Room was very nice, clean, and quiet and price was reasonable. Refrig with separate freezer, in room safe, microwave, complimentary in room bottled water, cookies and breakfast bar. Bathroom was like new with heat lamp.

The staff was nice! The room was clean and comfy. We were just a little turned off by the fact that they were doing massive construction.

Under construction

We always stay here. It's reasonably priced and conveniently located near the best croissants in the world (French Confection), grocery store, liquor store and downtown Newport. The construction workers are pleasant, but the chemical smell (strong glues or turpentine?) not sure what. Anyway, it wasn't good. Beds are adequate, but not comfortable. Breakfast was processed foods and some fresh fruit.

Nice hotel - close to the Navy Training School

Posted 24-Jan-2016
Pros: The staff was very friendly. The room was clean. I like that there was a pool, exercise room and a whirlpool.
Cons: One thing I didn't like was that the hotel was under renovations and I didn't know that at the time of booking.
Location: Things to do, lots of mansions to see. I love the Cliff Walk. It was very beautiful.
The main reason we went to Newport Rhode Island was for my son's graduation for Officer Training School. The hotel was near the base. There were plenty of things to do. Many places to eats. It was a good experience.

Clean, friendly, spacious

Posted 24-Jan-2016
Pros: See above. Also, the front desk staff are always good-natured and friendly.
Cons: When they complete the renovations I hope the breakfast will be a bit more substantial: more cereal choices, some protein, even if just boiled eggs.
Location: Very close to Newport and all it has to offer.
The cleaning staff works incredibly hard to keep the rooms spotlessly clean. This isn't to be taken for granted; I used to stay regularly at another hotel near here until one day I was in my room when the cleaning woman came in. I watched as she threw one of the pillows -- the one I had been using -- onto the floor, which hadn't been vacuumed since goodness knows when, and then replaced it on the bed when she was finished tucking in the blankets. I resolved to find a new place to stay on my visits to Rhode Island. This one will do quite nicely.

Quick stay. Great for pet!

Posted 18-Jan-2016
Stayed overnight with my little dog. Got a room towards the back of the property, but had a first floor room with a terrace that allowed for me to easily let my dog outside to do his business. Also got dog treats and a pick-up bag for the dog at check-in. Really enjoyed the stay!
