The room was noisy. The bathroom old and not well maintained. When draining the bath the bath water came out floor waste and soaked the carpet. The staff were helpful but not a good experience

The Mercure was the perfect choice for my stay. I attended the Australian Deaf Games held at NEX. It was walkable and the staff were very accommodating. Great coffee in the morning too. Parking was no problem.

Run down hotel in desperate need of an upgrade. Beware as it is next to a nightclub and a main road and we were kept up all night with loud music and cars revving their engines. Would not stay again and would not recommend.

When we went to our room they had the wrong room type, we booked a king and they gave us a King. They did change it, but the room was below average. We ordered room service bacon and eggs rolls with nothing but BBQ sauce, no cheese etc. I had to repeat my order at least 5 times for the young lady to understand. Then they turned up with cheese!! We sent them back and cancelled the order. At checkout the young lady tried to blame me for the stuff up with breakfast and said none of the staff wanted to be there because it was New Years Day. Well I never complain or write reviews, but this is the worst explanation or thing I have ever heard. Then she charged me $16 for parking and we were not even parked in the secure car park. She refused to remove the parking fee and said I should be thankful anyone even turned up for work. Wow a truly terrible experience

Not guaranteed a parking spot on sight. Stayed on 40° day rooms air con wasnt on upon arrival room was very stuffy and hot had to turn it on and leave. Shower bath didnt drain well when having a shower, water started to fill the bath tub, bathroom wasnt to standard hair in bath etc.

My room was very spacious, well appointed and great for staying more than one night. The room was very clean and comfortable, with everything I needed. While the Mercure might be getting a little dated (they are renovating), it is still a great place to rest your head and see Newcastle.

Very outdated facilities, especially the bathroom. Filthy windows. Very noisy on King St, could hear everything in the room next door. Noisy air con. Not worth the price. Would not stay again.

Very comfortable accommodation. A lovely walk along the water to Honeysuckle Park, bars and eateries. The only downside is the nightclub and road noise if facing the corner of King street.

The room smelled a bit mouldy. Was comfortable and adequate for the stay. Not spectacular. Expect slightly better for a 4 star hotel.

Bed was very comfortable, room average. They hit you up for $16 parking in an overcrowded car park which should be included in the overpriced room rate.

Front of house staff were great. However the room condition was terrible, paint peeling off tiles in the bathroom area, air conditioner not functioning correctly.... The worst was that when we woke in the morning we found a used "sex toy" in the foot of the bed, clearly indicating that the bed had obviously not been changed. We were offered free parking to the value of a whopping $16. Pretty poor for the quality of the stay and the price we paid.
