Good hotel but nothing special ...

Hotel is correct but nothing fency. Hotel room window were giving on the roof ... full of beer bottles, cigarettes, ... not clean. Hot water system has not enough power ... got 2 cold showers which don't help to start the day :(

Glad it was only one night

Arrived fairly late, the room very sparsely decorated and stone cold. Reception bar closed up shortly after arrival, all lights turned off. Reception and dining area very cold had portable heaters scattered around. Tables unclean, lots of dust,

Does not deserve the hilton name

Booked a suit only to be told they had given it to someone else and then given a standard double that looked like something out of the 90's, the window would not shut properly so had road noise all night. If i knew how terible the evening meal and breakfast was going to be I would have gone to McDonald's and had much better food at a cheaper price. I will never say in a hilton again.

One night stay

The hotel seemed to have a heating issue as there was a humorously small electric radiator plugged in next to a huge fire place in the lobby. Also, at breakfast the next day the system was blowing chilly air over the handful of breakfast diners, so not very nice to sit there so rushed what was a pretty good breakfast. The room was basic (to be expected at the price) however the carpet was very worn out and looked sleazy. The mattresses on the twin beds were cheap and a bit too firm. Also the duvet was the thinnest I've ever seen, even compared to the one I use in summer at home. The room smelled a bit musty - not sure if that was the carpet or another building/maintenance issue? The tiny bathroom had a paper thin door, and the normal bad mastic lines, gaps etc that you find in small internal rooms without proper ventilation in this type of modern cheap hotel. Bath panel damaged also - so overall looked shabby. You wont get much sleep if you are a light sleeper as any opening or closing door in the halls will wake you up, to say nothing of people talking in the halls and the cleaners.

Basic hotel close to Newbury

Surprising to find there is no lift so we had to carry our cases up the stairs - this would not suit everyone. There was no suggestion that someone could help with the cases. The bathroom was average - not a very good shower and the loo seat was loose! The room was comfortable but only what you would expect from 3 star accommodation - not up to the standard of other Hilton hotels in our experience. Hence not very good value for money. At the end of the evening the door "key" wouldn't work and we had to take it back to reception for resetting, which was done but with no apology from the staff for the inconvenience.

Theatre Break.

Very comfortable, staff helpful and friendly, breakfast and dinner good, free daily newspapers, a definite step-Up from Premier and similar, trees and various bushes create illusion of a countryside setting. Would definitely stay again if visiting Newbury.

This is one of many hotels in Newbury but it far better than any other if you stay book a suite they are the best rooms around the staff are very friendly and always willing to help

Tired and tatty, noisy drunk guests and thin walls

Unfortunately this hotel, which has been around for a number of years, is now looking very tired. The bedrooms and bathrooms are in need of refurbishment, with worn furniture and carpets, tatty doors, windows, curtains and walls. The sound insulation between rooms is extremely poor - we were kept awake until almost 3am by the sounds of drunk guests running up and down the corridors and being loud in their rooms (we had unfortunately picked a Saturday night where a Christmas party was in full swing). The car park also lacks proper lighting making parking and finding your way to the hotel entrance at night extremely difficult. We would not stay at the hotel again until it had been properly overhauled - and would also avoid staying at a weekend when there are likely to be many noisy and drunk guests in the hotel.

Disappointed

Was very disappointed with my stay, unfortunately there was a Christmas party that night and was not informed when booking! My room 118 was very close to the party so didn't get any sleep till gone 12:30 when I went to reception to find out when the party would be ending The gentleman behind reception didn't really seem to care, he said it would end at 12 but didn't stop till 12:30. Very disappointed

The room was quite basic but perfectly adequate and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The communal areas (reception, bar etc) were a pleasant surprise - far grander as a first impression than expected with lots of warm wood and sparkling bevelled glass.

Typical Hilton

Typical Hilton really, the brand name issues cheques it cant really cash. The communal areas are clean well presented and in keeping with high standards. The rooms on the other hand, are dated, scuffed, with old furniture and carpets that need cleaning, replacing and essentially updating. check out is slow, the girl on the desk was busy looking at her screen when I arrived to check in, and took ages to realise there was a queue for the other desk point. On check out she was there again, and no eye contact, but plenty of playing with her computer. No quick check out facilities. Overall there are FAR better hotels out there, with newer modern facilities, which don't rely on a name to get business. I would have been incredibly annoyed to have had to pay the charges they had advertised in the foyer.

Sadly disappointed

very disappointing really for a Hilton Hotel, very dated, furniture worn, stained carpets, noticed very dusty in places, mirrors in the bar and our bathroom were smeary, and in the hallways outside hotel rooms on the floor were dirty coffee cups, used glasses and wine bottles that were there when we arrived at 5.30pm and still there at 9am the next morning. All in all found the place shabby and expected better with the price paid to stay the night.

Happy To Serve You.....

This isn't a luxury hotel and neither does it have a luxury price tag. The hotel is very friendly and welcoming although a little dated in the public areas. The bedrooms could also do with updating and freshening up - but it is clean and comfortable. On the plus side, the variety of choices on the evening restaurant menu were very good and the food was beautifully cooked and presented. The buffet breakfast was very good indeed with a huge selection of hot and cold choices and very good quality. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and polite. The customer service was faultless and that counts for a lot these days. I will definitely return and ask them on booking for a really nice bedroom.

Not recommended

Not recommended. Radiator is not working after contact the service they provide two electric heater which makes the room very dry. The bathroom is very old and basin is blocked a bit.
