The house was fairly well stocked and, if you are looking for a more remote feel, it was peaceful -- about a 10–15 minute drive to groceries and the nearest town center. It was also a beautiful drive (1 hour) to many nearby towns in Vermont and New Hampshire that we visited for hiking, fall leaves and apple picking. However, we were very disappointed by the cleanliness. This was unexpected based on prior reviews. There was a very strong dog odor throughout the home (aware it says "dog friendly" but it smelled like a stinky, wet dog mixed with a fake cinnamon smell that required us to open the windows and air out because it was so strong) and both dog and human hair were noticeable in multiple areas throughout the house, including on the dining table and in the bathrooms. We also discovered what appeared to be animal feces in most of the kitchen drawers - including where serving utensils ans cutlery were stored. Perhaps most upsetting -- during our stay, we saw several mice in the house in the kitchen and living areas.While the home has potential and the host was great to work with, it would greatly benefit from a deep cleaning and pest control before future guests. The house is spacious and very nicely renovated. The view is beautiful and the there are plenty of ways to enjoy the pond. It is very quiet and the house is well appointed. The kitchen had what we needed to cook, and there are plenty of dining options reasonably nearby. The area is very scenic and quaint. The beds were comfortable and the there were many nice touches, like having pump style shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the showers, and a couple of working record players with plenty of albums to choose from.
