Ideally placed smart hotel in mid town Manhattan

Posted 18-Oct-2017
I booked this hotel via the Expedia website due to its location and reviews. Upon arrival I found the hotel to be better than what the reviews gave it credit for. Penn Station was literally across the street making the train journey from JFK ( initially via the air train) very easy. From the moment I entered the hotel, every member of staff that I came into contact with was pleasant, polite and helpful. Due to a busy schedule, I never actually dined in the restaurant but did make use of the 'grab and go' style breakfast bar. My hotel room provided a fantastic view of midtown Manhattan and was cleaned on a daily basis. Due to a prior issue with Expedia, I contacted the hotel prior to my departure from the UK. My query was answered by Mr Djiby Bah, Guest Relations Manager. What a gentleman! In summary, I would highly recommend the Wyndham New Yorker Hotel and, should I be lucky enough to return to the city, it would be the first hotel at which I would seek to make my reservation. Thanks to all at the Wyndham New Yorker but especially Mr Bah.

Nice suite in new york

Posted 18-Oct-2017
Pros: The suite
Cons: Renovation is on its way to update the high floors
Location: Close to theaters, dinning and shopping.
Spent a few days at the New Yorker with my 2 daughters. The suite was quiet and spacious enough for the 4 of us with enough storage for the luggage. The sleeper Sofa was actually and unexpectedly very comfortable. The staff was cordial and they put the room back together everyday to make for a nice night of sleep when we got back.

Pretty good

The hotel is older looking but it’s clean and the staff are very nice. If your not going to be in your room much it’s perfect for the price.

Quiet, convenient, comfort.

Posted 18-Oct-2017
Came to NYC for an audition and this hotel was a few minutes walk from the studio. The staff was friendly and I was given my room early. Very convenient to church, food, job and the theatre district. The security at the elevators was appreciated. The baggage storage was helpful, too. For a business/leisure trip this was an excellent choice for me and I would recommend it. However, it was a little more expensive than a hotel I found later in the week that I liked better because there was a microwave, refrigerator and a coffee maker in the room. I moved over after my reservation ended at the New Yorker. My room at the New Yorker had none of those and I would recommend that at least a coffee maker be put in the room.

Unbeatable location for mid-town

Posted 15-Oct-2017
Pros: Location, location, location Perfectly comfortable and well-kept
Cons: Some parts are a bit tired
Location: Penn Station, Empire State building
Great location, and a reasonable price (well, for New York, anyway)

Location, location, location

Older NY hotel with smallish but clean rooms, attentive staff. But the biggest attraction is the location. Literally a stone's throw from Madison Square Garden, Macys, and subways. More restaurants in the area than you can shake a stick at. Will stay there again in December when I have tickets at MSG for a concert.

Long weekend stay

Posted 14-Oct-2017
Pros: Super convenient location for us.
Cons: Lights in the room could be improved. They are the fluorescent LED types but they give a cold feeling to the room and are not that bright.
Location: Right by Penn Station/Madison Square Garden. We ate at the Tick Tock Diner (attached to the hotel) one night which was pretty good.
Second time staying here. Great location, nice staff. It will probably remain our go to hotel for Manhattan.

BEDBUGS

Posted 14-Oct-2017
Pros: It's fine
Cons: Bedbugs!!!
It was ok . I would have rated my higher. My daughter had some professional obligations nearby or I would have chosen a less congested neighborhood. Now that I'm home. Bites on arms and legs. We stayed for 2 nights and I am frantically laundering and googling and trying to contain what I hope is a limited situation. Very stressful. Proceed with caution. The only bedbug report for this hotel on line were from years ago so perhaps they are actively squashing the message on line but this is awful
