I had the worst check-in process experience ever, to the point that I feared I was going to sleep in the streets of Manhattan. It was really scary, because it was a notified late check-in at 2am in january, which means that I almost had to wander the streets for another hotel at that hour, with 40°F outside.
But the whole problem was the lady at reception at that hour, who was really rude and didn't let me even talk, constantly interrupting when I was trying to explain her I had a reservation, and just literally in denial that I had a reservation. Doesn't matter if I showed her the reservation in my cellphone, she said that doesn't count, because it is in my cellphone and she didn't had it in her computer.
At the end, after a long mediation from Expedia, which were really helpful and I'm very grateful for it, she finally booked me a room, which would be the easiest thing to do in first place. The whole check-in process lasted around an hour and a half, all these at 2am on a thursday (not weekend, when the hotel gets really crowded). All that after a long flight of 7 hours. I truly believed I was going to sleep in the streets, because the lady didn't let me even talk.
Besides the awful check-in experience, for the whole stay, the rest of the staff were great, truly nice people, and the hotel was good too, great location, it is what I expected. From my perspective, its a 3 star hotel with a unbeatable location.
