"Charming Comfortable Hotel"
The Carlyle is a wonderful quiet hotel in a great location close to neighborhood restaurants. We loved walking Central Park just steps from the hotel. The hotel lounge was exceptional. We enjoyed a late afternoon cocktail every day while listening to talented entertainment on the piano. Perfect!

"Truely 5 star"
We stayed 5 mights for my wifes birthday. I phoned before to let them know it was a special occasion and was told they would arrange soemthing special. When we arrived check in was quick and professional, Our room (which we upgraded to a suite) was spotless and huge with an great view of the Empire State. They arranged a complimentary bottle of champagne to help us celabrate with Strawberrys which was a really nice touch. The rooms were well equiped with fridge full of soft drinks and a Nespresso machine. Concierge service was very good and recomended a number of great restaurants. When in New York you spend so much time exploring but soemtimes we couldn't leave the hotel such was the luxury and comfort.

Hotel for a 5 star had wear and tear on it. Tv's are out of date and small for the room. Elevator at one time wouldn't shut due to the wind in the shaft and just told us to push it together. Had us get on and off 3 to 5 times.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. They answered all our questions and helped us plan activities. Don't take the shuttle service through Expedia because they don't drop off passed 63rd.

"Overall review"
Check-in experience: We requested for early check-in after our 24hrs flight from Asia and the hotel said its subject to availability which is fair. When we arrived at around noon, they said no room available and we had to wait til 3PM so we went out walking despite having no sleep for 24 hrs. When we came back at 3PM, they said the room was ready since 12:20PM which was 20 minutes after we arrived...They could have told us to wait but they didn't. Housekeeping: Room isn't that clean, but the hotel is nice and new so it was not bad. We stayed for a week and only 2 out of 6 nights was the room being turned down. Also our complimentary refreshments were not replenish everyday. When we called asking for water, they said its coming, but nth ever came. Electric lock: Our electric lock battery was out and we had to wait for half an hour before we can get back in the room. Check-out: Our flight is at midnight but we need to check out at noon and there s no shower facility after check out. What we like: hotel is nice and new, the room is quite comfy and centrally located so can walk everywhere. Nice fitness room (but poorly replenish). Also we like that the room is well lit, despite the fact that we can't open the window coz the bld right next door is under construction and there s workmen there. Lobby and central area is a bit too dark for my liking.

The staff was exceptionally accommodating and made us feel right at home. Even our six and nine year olds had a great time. Can't beat the views of the harbor and Lady Liberty!
