I spent extra to stay at Hard Rock thinking it was safer. Walking to the hotel, the street it was on was the worst in Times Square. The only time I felt unsafe was basically right outside the Hard Rock door. No ATM inside Hard Rock, you are directed to use the outside ATM in front of the 24/7 Deli. You know how that went. Hard Rock is also out for their money, they will not hesitate to make sure they get every dime out of you, no matter your situation, and wont even blink an eye.

Stayed at HRH with my 9 yo son and 9 yo niece. They loved the experience and we felt safe the entire time. Staff was friendly and responded promptly when I asked for more coffee in the room. They loaned us umbrellas for a couple rainy days. My only complaint would be the hidden "destination fee" that the front desk never mentioned. She took my card at the beginning as a deposit for "incidentals" but never mentioned any fee on top of what I already paid to Expedia. So just be careful as you will likely have an additional charge at the end of your trip for another $40/day. I know many hotels do this but I assumed going through the third party that this wasn't part of it. Lastly, if you have children there is no pool. NYC is busy enough but just an FYI. GREAT LOCATION in Times Square.

Very nice hotel, clean, very close to Time Square. Staff at the entrance is nice and very courteous. However, the receptionist at check in, an Asian lady is very rude, does not smile and looks like she needs some training or replacement with friendly staff.

The staff was impeccable. From check-in to housekeeping, they kept us in tip shape. They were attentive and had wisdom about what to do in the area and how to go about getting places. Great hotel and restaurant for breakfast. I was disappointed with the bar on the roof. There was 6 staff behind the bar and a few seats open in the bar. After 10 minutes we did not get to order a beverage. The person who checked our room key to get in the bar and lots of waitstaff and no service is a big problem.
