Not as expected

Posted 29-Jan-2017
Pros: Hotel is within walking distance from train station and other points of interest.
Cons: Rooms need updating. No coffee machines in rooms.
Location: Close to train station, Empire State Building and shopping.
The pictures of this hotel online were deceiving, beginning with the lobby, which was much smaller than expected. I wasn't aware that the hotel was going through renovations. There was no lobby bar, restaurant, or gym, which made our stay disappointing. The rooms didn't look like the pictures. They were very outdated, and the curtains and walls were slightly stained. On the positive side, the room size was ok and the bed was comfortable. Hotel staff was friendly. However, there's lots to be done. May or may not come back after renovation.

Not a luxury hotel - middle of the road $150/night

Posted 23-Jan-2017
Pros: double bedroom was large, cleaning staff did well
Cons: everything could be improved - chipped paint everywhere, upgrades needed This hotel is just really really small
Location: near madison square garden
This hotel is worth about $150 a night for NY. It needs upgrades. It is super small. The restaurant, gym and everything was closed for renovation (but also super small). The one or two people at the front desk staff are way understaffed and they are the jack of all trades. If you call room service, it is them. If you need anything, it is them. I would only go here if you are on a budget. I had already booked a hotel part of the autograph collection in Europe and now that I stayed here - I want to change the reservation because this is a middle of the road hotel with middle of the road service. Pictures on the site are very deceiving. This is not a luxury hotel at all.

Would not recommend

Posted 18-Jan-2017
I was quite shocked that this hotel had a 4 diamond ranking because it does not live up to the expectation. The location was good, close to ktown and easy access to metro and the lobby is super pretty. When I walked in i was like this is going to be a great experience. But the staffs were wearing casual clothing, the rooms are really small and the facilities are ancient. The heater in my room could not be turned off and the bathroom has a tiny mirror, tiny sink and a tiny shower space. I was told that it would have a river view but there was nothing. The experience was just not very pleasant.

Older facility but comfortable

Posted 18-Jan-2017
Pros: Quiet, comfortable, convenient to transportation.
Cons: Coffee maker in room. Ice machines on each floor.
Location: Walking distance to mid-town attractions and the Village.
It's an older building in need of some renovation but my room was very quiet and comfortable. Convenient to the subway and walking distance to many attractions. I only wish the room had it's own coffee maker instead of having to go down to the free machine in the lobby. Recommended.

Hotel in ristrutturazione

Posted 2-Jan-2017
Pros: la posizione
Cons: tutto

Good value in a big city

In general it is a good hotel to stay at for its rate.

Not sure how this is a 4-star hotel.

Posted 29-Dec-2016
Pros: The location is good. Just below the hustle and bustle of Times Square, close to Madison Park. A few blocks to the subway.
Cons: You only get a bed here. No frills. So stay somewhere cheaper (and get the same) or somewhere else (and get more).
Location: The location is good. Just below the hustle and bustle of Times Square, close to Madison Park. A few blocks to the subway.
Though after booking we were warned that the hotel RESTAURANT was undergoing renovations, they didn't mention that there are no vending machines or water on sight, that the complimentary tea and coffee was either out of order or unavailable, that the bathroom was actually partially torn up, the shower was fairly disgusting, and the hot water didn't work in the morning. Small rooms. Suggestion was to go to the Walgreens around the corner for beverages or food. WIth SO MANY HOTELS all over the city, I would strongly suggest going to another one. The Carlton didn't offer the old NYC charm you would hope. Not sure how this has a 4-star designation...I've stayed at Holiday Inns, Comfort Inns, Ramadas, and more and had much better amenities and larger rooms. Paid a little extra for a reason...and was disappointed.
