Room was a dump. There are bigger showers on boats. Room is tiny. Poor value for the price.

Convenient location

Convenient located closed to Washington square and union square. Good for visit to NYU. Restaurant basic, rooms are big and comfortable. A historic building. Services are fine.

Stylish hotel in an excellent location.

Very nice hotel with excellent and friendly staff. The rooms and public space although beautifully designed are showing some wear and tear. The staff was very helpful and nice.

Don't opt for the Breakfast Included room rate!

Posted 28-Aug-2016
Pros: Location.
Cons: Better customer service. Add drapes to room windows. Be up front about what "breakfast included" really means for $30 upcharge.
I was surprised that my experience differed so much from other reviewers. Door to the room did not shut tightly so every time the elevator chimed it disturbed my sleep. There was no drapes to cover the windows and the light blocking shades allowed some light to spill into the room so impossible to get it really dark. No ironing board in the closet - just an iron. Apparently I have to ring down for the board (who has time for that in the morning?). The bathroom door only opened half way because then it hit the edge of the towel bowl. Final straw was breakfast. Turns out my $30 more expensive "breakfast included" room rate offered either a sub-par continental buffet or $10 off the breakfast a la carte menu. Hotel front desk was less than sympathetic when I expressed disappointment that I was charged $30 for a $10 credit. I won't be coming back here again.

Dårligt familie værelse og uacceptabel morgenmad

Posted 9-Aug-2016

Dear Nils, apologies for the pizza in the fridge. We do offer a larger suite which would accommodate a family of four better. Thanks for your review.

Anniversary Trip

Posted 8-Aug-2016
Pros: The location, the quality of the finishings, the comfort of the room and the bed, and service.
My wife and I visited NYC for our anniversary, and wanted a comfortable, convenient hotel that would also function as a bit of pampering as well without breaking the bank. The Carlton fit the bill perfectly.

Mid-town; close to everything

Posted 5-Aug-2016
Pros: Great location; quiet rooms; free Wi-Fi that was fast.
Location: Times Square; Empire State Building; Korea Town; Byblos Restaurant (Lebanese cuisine)
- Great check-in experience (Phil); front desk staff were polite, professional and attentive to needs. - Room was clean and quiet. No street noise; didn't hear our neighbors. - Hotel is centrally located; 5 minutes' walk (2 blocks) to the subway and within 20 minutes of many attractions, restaurants, and within 10-15 minutes walk of Empire State Building and 20 minutes' walk to Times' Square ( 5 minutes' subway ride). - Concierge staff (Mike) were knowledgeable and helpful; called me back within a day of my leaving a voicemail message before my stay. - Free coffee and tea in the business lounge; nothing fancy but convenient and much appreciated. - The free guest Wi-Fi was fast and the signal strength strong. Much better than a lot of hotel Wi-Fi I have experienced.

Very safe, comfortable and affordable. I loved the autograph aspect - that it is an old hotel built in 1902, but has been enhanced, but kept a lot of the old features - loved the old marble staircases. Hallways creepy and cool!
