It was a really nice neighborhood with some cute coffee shops, and restaurants. We felt very safe letting our teenagers walk around a little bit on their own. Grand Central terminal was only a few blocks away and it wasn’t a super long walk to Times Square. The space is a little bit worn, but it was clean and the beds were comfortable. It had everything we needed, and really appreciate that we didn’t have to go buy toilet paper and things like that. Peeling paint, moldy bathroom, water-swollen cabinets that can’t close, beds that sleep like hammocks, etc. The usual just-paint-over-it approach to maintenance abounds, including over switches, blinds, tile, and door handles.
