Someplace small in the Marigny, preferably with an on-site owner, in a location that I felt safe, as a woman travelling alone. The proximity to both Royal and Dauphine streets made it a straight shot to the French Quarter without dealing with Bourbon street congestion. (Get the blue bike app and rent one when you can for even cooler, easier sightseeing.) I flew in but parking would have been possible on the street if I needed to.
