Perfect location to enjoy the city

Posted 26-Apr-2017
Pros: location, pool, clean, friendly staff, quiet!
Cons: can't think of anything
Location: a block away from Canal street and only a few blocks from French Quarter. Perfect location in the city to see everything!
Just on the edge of the French Quarter, this was the perfect hotel. Very quiet. The pool was a perfect place to relax and rejuvenate after a full day before heading back out for the evening. The included breakfast was fine to fill up before heading out for the day.

Good location but noisy with indifferent staff

Posted 21-Apr-2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Noise level, customer service
Location: French Quarter, restaurants, Riverwalk Mall and paddlewheel river boats, WWII museum
First off, I found that customer service in New Orleans in general, is appalling. Everywhere we went, restaurants, shops, rental car company, hotel - the staff are either indifferent or downright rude. Our hotel room faces Magazine St and the lobby's open concept with exposed beams are nice to look at, but in practicality, an acoustics nightmare if you're trying to sleep at a decent hour. It was Easter weekend, and they were some revelers roaming the streets but the hotel is located at the edge of French Quarter, far enough from Bourbon St, and reading other reviews, I thought it would be quieter. I complained about some noise in the lobby at 11pm and the receptionist got defensive and gave a half-hearted apology. My kids wanted to swim in the hotel's tiny pool but there were a lot of leaves, so I asked for the pool guy to skim the pool. His excuse was that he did it earlier in the morning and that the wind blew more leaves into the pool. My thought was, "then, do it again, it's your job". When he emptied the skimmer basket, I saw that it was almost full. I have a pool at home so I know that you have to do skim it a few times a day on a windy day. Our room got cleaned around 4pm every day, pretty late in my opinion. The bathroom floor was not clean properly, especially behind the door. Before we checked out, I got a call from the concierge, asking about my stay. I mentioned the noise, and she just glossed over it. Not even "I'm sorry to hear that". They don't really care.

Overall

Great location for what we wanted to do and for trip pick ups. It was within easy walking distance for us to go places of interest. Very helpful staff organised our trips with good knowledgable advice. Breakfast was better than expected for an American breakfast. Good value for the price but wished the pool had been bigger.

New Orleans experience

Posted 16-Apr-2017
Pros: Great location, lots of history
Cons: cheaper parking :)
Location: very close to quarter but was still quiet at night. Two blocks away from everything, tours, horse buggy rides, restaurants.
Wonderful quaint hotel. Rooms were small but you didn't seem cramped as ceiling were so high. Comfortable king bed, very quiet. Two blocks from the quarter. People very friendly. Would recommend and stay again.

We booked a suite but when we checked in, the suite was not available due to a "problem" with the room. We were put into two rooms which was very inconvenient do to the fact that our family of 5 had to sleep in separate rooms. The bathroom smelled like meldew and there was visible mold around the bath tub.

Pros: The lobby and pool area are really lovely.
Cons: The people at the front desk could be more welcoming.
Location: We enjoyed tours (city, swamp and paddle boat cruise) but did not enjoy the Witch's Brew tour. Go with another company.
The hotel is only a few blocks from the French Quarter and is thus close but also very quiet. The breakfast was good. There were quite a few choices.

Nice stay

Posted 8-Apr-2017
Pros: The location, and how older buildings were renovated so the building had character. The architecture was beautiful, as well garden and pool area.
Cons: Workman started renovation work on an adjacent room too soon - it was very loud. It may have been at about 7:30 am. It didn't last long.
Location: The French Quarter, Faubourg Marigny, and the Warehouse District - so much to do and what great music and artistry.
Beautiful design and decor. Food and service were excellent.
