Good location but noisy with indifferent staff
First off, I found that customer service in New Orleans in general, is appalling. Everywhere we went, restaurants, shops, rental car company, hotel - the staff are either indifferent or downright rude. Our hotel room faces Magazine St and the lobby's open concept with exposed beams are nice to look at, but in practicality, an acoustics nightmare if you're trying to sleep at a decent hour. It was Easter weekend, and they were some revelers roaming the streets but the hotel is located at the edge of French Quarter, far enough from Bourbon St, and reading other reviews, I thought it would be quieter. I complained about some noise in the lobby at 11pm and the receptionist got defensive and gave a half-hearted apology. My kids wanted to swim in the hotel's tiny pool but there were a lot of leaves, so I asked for the pool guy to skim the pool. His excuse was that he did it earlier in the morning and that the wind blew more leaves into the pool. My thought was, "then, do it again, it's your job". When he emptied the skimmer basket, I saw that it was almost full. I have a pool at home so I know that you have to do skim it a few times a day on a windy day. Our room got cleaned around 4pm every day, pretty late in my opinion. The bathroom floor was not clean properly, especially behind the door. Before we checked out, I got a call from the concierge, asking about my stay. I mentioned the noise, and she just glossed over it. Not even "I'm sorry to hear that". They don't really care.
