Hotel St. Pierre

911 Burgundy St, New Orleans - Map
"At the edge of the French Quarter but close enough"
The St. Pierre is an interesting boutique hotel. It is actually a collection of older and somewhat historic and eclectic buildings. There is a wide variety of room sizes and they are all in very good condition. There is an excellent breakfast served daily by two very nice hosts who ensure high quality and quantity. Both hot and cold items are available plus great tasting coffee. Also there are fresh baked cookies from 3 to 5 in the afternoon with coffee and milk. The hotel staff is friendly and the property is clean and secure after hours.

"Spectacular Stay"
Had walked by the Cornstalk in past stays but this time wanted to spend the nite as well. Appointments spectacular. Room was small but adequate. Just a stroll from our favorite haunts but quiet as well, a treasure of a place. Our concierge, Francesca, went out of her way to make the stay a most memorable one.

"Great Place"
Upon arriving at hotel the staff met us at the door and was very helpful in getting our luggage placed on the cart and brought it to our room. The greeting staff was great. Made us feel right at home from the very first moment we arrived. We did have problems at check-in. Their computer system was down and check-in was delayed several minutes. There was only one staff member assigned to handle check-in and several guests were waiting. Once computer system was usable it took very little time to check-in. The hotel lobby is magnificent. The outside of the hotel is beautiful. The appearance of the hotel was very well kept for an older hotel. The room was very nice and very clean. Beds were very comfortable. Did not use the bar, pool or restaurant but each looked great and well kept. The rooms were good size and the huge television was awesome. Good water pressure in the shower. A lot of good amenities were provided. Good wi-fi. Check-out was smooth and quick. Very nice place. Plan to stay there again.

Hotel Modern New Orleans

"Clean, cheap, no frills room in a great area!"
Hotel Modern was a great place to rest our heads after long days exploring New Orleans. Per other reviews the rooms are very small and there are absolutely no frills but if you know what you're getting into you won't be disappointed. Staff were friendly and the hotel is in a perfect location (walking distance to French Quarter, museums, etc and right off the trolley route). Ask about their free bike rental! I called ahead and asked for an early check in and our room was ready when we arrived. We'd for sure go back for a very affordable but modest stay.

"10-15 minute walk to French Quarter"
Our problem with this hotel was they were in the middle of renovations to the court yard and a meeting room. This was quite noisy at times when we were in our room during the day. We enjoyed the coffee, juice and warm croissant delivered to our room each morning.

Loft 523 New Orleans

"Loft 523 is Solid"
I had a local friend refer me to Loft 523 and he was adamant about it being a nice, laid back place where I could relax after full days at my convention (at Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, a 12-15 minute walk). He was right. It's a great place that feels under the radar and the service was tremendous when I asked for it yet completely unintrusive, much like a great waiter. So to you pampered types, you might have to ask for help and it will be delivered and then some. I stayed in one of the penthouse rooms but was originally booked for the Artist's Loft. I changed when I decided I wanted a bath as the loft I first got didn't have one. I will say the loft was big and nice. The penthouse room I had was awesome. Very big, very tall warehouse/loft style ceilings, long luxurious curtains, an amazing bathtub, a great desk to get some work done, and a tremendously comfortable bed. It was sparsely decorated and very cool. It's definitely not a La Quinta. There were multiple fans overhead for those who like white noise and/or cool wind hitting them when they sleep and the heater also worked well for the cold blooded out there. There isn't a restaurant but you should be eating out. The only issue I had with it is the shower. It looks (italicized) good. The function however stunk: two immovable shower heads which hit at funny angles. If I could have turned them 30-45 degrees towards the inside of the shower the setup would have been awesome. Fix that and it's perfect.
