We did not have a car and walked to many of the restaurants, Whole Foods, smoothie shop and the ice cream shop. We felt safe in all of our time walking in this neighborhood. We enjoyed being away from the noise and traffic of the French quarter. It was a short walk to the bus stop, we also used the trolleys. Reginelli’s for pizza and pasta is a very short walk away from this house and we had a good dinner there. We also noticed a place called “Picnic”, which we did not get a chance to visit. We walked to the supermarket to buy supplies. Winn Dixie, Whole Foods, Walgreens, Circle K are all very close to the house. Liz was very helpful and accommodating with the check in/out times and she also recommended great restaurants. The neighbors were very friendly. The house has everything you need and more. My previous experience with New Orleans was in the French Quarter, and staying in a nice residential neighborhood was 1000% nicer. Clean, quiet, safe, beautiful. We walked to restaurants for two dinners; we sat out on the upstairs porch in the evening (no mosquitos, miraculously). The XL Lyft+tip to the French Quarter was $30 each way... an excellent tradeoff for genuinely restful, clean digs. The rental unit itself was also just perfect: super clean, brand new re-do so stylish and modern. Everything in perfect working order and, though we didn't use them, plenty of kitchenware if we'd wanted to cook at home. Comfy beds, AC worked well and quietly. And traveling with grown kids, it was great for everyone to have their own private space. Seriously, this all worked out just perfectly for us.
