This home is the perfect getaway for us. Charles and Mary were the perfect host and always responded to any questions both before and during our stay. The home is lovely. The living room is quite generous, as is the kitchen. The bathroom features a lovely walk in shower. When Charles and Mary had this revamped they did a tremendous job in tying in the historic features but providing modern luxury. The induction range was a surprise and since I love to cook it proved to be a real treat. Probably one of the most important thing to my husband and me is Location. This was the best spot we ever stayed at. We could easily access the river walk; was walkable to every wonderful restaurant in New Bern, could enjoy the beauty of the historic homes...and the list goes on. Would I stay here again? You bet. Keep in mind that it is on the street, so you will hear people talking, and because of the area, there are lights on all night, so it never really gets dark ( but I’m a country person so those things probably wouldn’t bother others). Also, the ghost tour stops every night in the drive across the street, which I thought was cool, but probably not for everyone. The apartment kept the ambiance and charm of the time of the time period, but it still had the modern conviences. It was nicely decorated without being stuffy.The kitchen could use a couple more plates, steak knives and a colander. Every time we made dinner we had to run the dishwasher because we were short of plates and utensils. The kitchen itself is gorgeous and has top of the line appliances.The apartment is a close drive to grocery stores and B&J Seafood (fresh and so reasonably priced).This place is walking distance to everywhere in the historic area and downtown!The only real complaint we had was noise. Saturday night there were a group of young people across the street for about an hour. Upon looking at what was going on, it appeared they were taking photos of some type of paranormal activity on the second floor. Sunday afternoon the property was been mowed for at least 3 hours. Monday morning some other property being mowed, tree limbs behind cut down, garbage trucks, etc. Then there is traffic. Hubby and I live in a rural area, so please keep that in mind. ##### Christina W.
