Navy Pier is a must for military enthusiasts when you visit the San Diego waterfront. Undoubtedly the main attraction is the colossal USS Midway, the longest-serving military vessel of the 20th century and now the site of the San Diego Aircraft Museum. The museum offers a rare glimpse into military life thanks to the more than 20 restored aircraft on display, ranging from a World War II planes to a Desert Storm fighter plane. If you don’t have time to tour the museum, climb aboard the Midway’s deck for free and see impressive views over the San Diego waterfront.
Working Navy ships regularly dock at Navy Pier.
For views of another working military station, walk north to Broadway Pier. From here, you can look across the water to the North Island Naval Station where aircraft carriers and fighter jets are often docked.
Much of the appeal of Navy Pier comes down to its position on the San Diego waterfront. Stroll south and you’ll come across attractive green areas and the well-renowned Fish Market Restaurant – a wonderful location to enjoy a waterside bite in what was once the site of the biggest tuna fleets in the world. Continue on and you will reach the shops and restaurants of Seaport Village. Just beyond Seaport Village you’ll catch great views to the Coronado Peninsula across the water.
The property was beautiful, it was exquisitely maintained and impeccably clean. The afternoon, young front desk clerk, was aloof and uncaring. Only there to get a paycheck. The older gray haired gentleman was kind, caring, friendly and accomodating. The restaurant was very beautiful, we dined there ...
Great for the price. Generators were loud outside the property but I think this was temporary for electric work.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to train station and midway museum where the kissing statue is located. The room is clean. It’s a pity the room windows are not though, I got stunning seaside view in my room but I didn’t take any photos because the windows are dirty.
The building is beautiful. The room is nice and clean. The bed is comfortable. The hotel stated that I was receiving free WiFi because I’m VIP member. However, I believe that free WiFi was offered to everyone and that was stated on their website. Other than that, everything else was great. Will stay ...
Had to call down to front desk twice due to noisy neighbors. Also, room was above the valet stand which was very loud on a weekend night.
Brand new hotel, great location for downtown waterfront. Checking in was confusing, it's not real obvious the hotel check in is on the 3rd floor. Rooms were very nice. Seems like a lot of younger people stay here to go party, so we experience many drunks in the evening. Overall I would stay here ...
