The Franklin County Veterans Memorial functions not only as a monument to commemorate the services of the United States Armed Forces veterans but also as a multipurpose hall and auditorium. The memorial and its extensive events space regularly host public trade shows, concerts, exhibitions, performances, competitions and other events.

Craft and jewelry fairs, bridal shows, music concerts and sports memorabilia shows are just some of the diverse events that occur in the memorial’s grand hall. Franklin County Veterans Memorial has over 145,000 square feet (13,500 square meters) of exhibition space, banquet rooms and a theater that fits almost 4,000 patrons, making the locale perfect for some of the biggest events in Columbus.

Since its dedication in 1955, the Veterans Memorial has hosted a huge array of shows, including concerts by Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, Neil Diamond and Bruce Springsteen. It was at the Veterans Memorial that Arnold Schwarzenegger was crowned the world’s weightlifting champion in 1970\. The Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic is now held here every year.

Take advantage of the memorial’s prime location on the riverfront. Wander over to the lush green Genoa Park, located just southeast of the memorial. Walk along the picturesque Lower Scioto Greenway, a riverside path that offers over 6 miles (10 kilometers) of multi-use trail. Use this pathway to arrive at your planned event at the memorial or pack some lunch and take a break by the waterfront and enjoy the Scioto River views.

The Franklin County Veterans Memorial is centrally located just across the river from downtown. Convenient on-site parking is available and a shuttle bus operates during the cold winter months. Purchase a value package for parking during longer events, fairs or conferences, or catch one of the convenient local Columbus buses on West Broad Street.

This property was more than I could have ever expected! It looks like something out of HGTV. It’s absolutely gorgeous and so many tiny unique details. The beds are very comfortable, lots of towels in the gorgeous bathroom and the kitchen is fully stocked with everything for preparing meals. Unfortunately we were only staying for one night but I will absolutely be booking here again! Things to keep in mind tho, the top floor bedroom with 2 beds has VERY steep and narrow steps so if you have balance issues or small children I would suggest not having them sleep in that room. Also it would be very difficult to bring up or down a large suitcase but for the one night we stayed it wasn’t much of an issue. The parking is limited and even with the wonderful specific directions it was a little confusing at first and we did have to park on the next block over after returning later in the evening after a concert. It wouldn’t deter me tho, just make me keep in mind how much I pack and have to unload into the unit 😆all in all it was a perfect place!! 10 out of 10!!!

![This arch is all that remains of Columbus Grand Union Station, the city's third and final train station. 

Built in 1897 and designed by Daniel H. Burnham and Company of Chicago, the train station was located in the current footprint of the Greater Columbus Convention Center. 

On October 22, 1976, demolition began despite having been listed on the National Register of Historic Places two years earlier. A restraining order federal judge George Smith halted demolition, but it was too late and only one arch of the ornate structure was saved.

In 1999, the arch in its entirety was slowing inched over several blocks to its current location at Dimon McPherson Commons in the Arena District.
