I expected there to be more of a village and maybe places to eat very quiet and serene. It was lovely while we were there snowing and very easy access to the skiing. This property is dated, likely untouched since the 1998 olympics. The onsen has seen better days! The staff were friendly and great service at breakfast and checkin and check out. With a little update this hotel would be awesome. Staff is extremely kind, helpful, and they always have smile on their faces. They definitely made the biggest contribution to our stay and I hope they are aware of it and that they are well compensated for it. 2. Food is a perfect gateway to authentic Nagano culinary cultural experience. 3. Rooms are spacious. And I like the idea of onsen. 4. If you are on a fast pace travel to Shiga Kogen I believe location is perfect. You literally ski in and ski out and can access other mountains by skiing or by free of charge bus. Snow Monkey Park stop is 25 minutes away. Hotel is 3 minute walk away from bus stop. And Nagano station is closer ride as well. On the other side, I was unpleasantly surprised by the condition of hotel. It seems like no money was invested in its appearance for few decades (besides new restroom in shared area on the first floor). Bathrooms in the rooms are outdated, onsens as well.
