Although the accommodation was not on the slopes it was in close proximity to the Hakuba fields with Happo One being the closest (About 5 minutes by Bus or a 10 minute walk). The Hakuba shuttle services picked up from basically the front door and the Gakuto guest bus filled in the blanks. We really enjoyed our stay here. The Villa is very spacious and clean. It's also centrally located. The only thing I wish for is that they would give us more towels. When I found a burnt pot, and told the receptionist, they replaced it right away with a new one. In beautiful Hakuba, Gakuto Villas is a gem! Spotless, modern two story villa. All the amenities of home in really cool facilities. Totally hi-tech: wifi included, floor ambient heaters (although we didn't need them in August), bathrooms were tricked out! Downstairs was like a Japanese bath with shower and soaking tube in a room separated by toilet with a sliding (Waterproof) door. Upstairs bath was equally cool. Modern toilets, of course. Hakuba is so charming and the more we explored, the more we liked it. Though our host Kayo warned us that many restaurants were closed, we found some good eating.
