My husband and I enjoyed our week long stay in Mystic. This duplex is extremely convenient to downtown. We were able to walk everywhere but to the market, aquarium, and Olde Mystick Village (near the aquarium). It was also an easy launching off place to visit Stonington, Hartford, etc. It was great that we had two parking spaces so we could bring our 22 foot long pickup to haul home all the goodies we purchased. The building is very old and we found its various creaks and quirks and tilted floors to be part of the charm. The apartment is cozy and comfortable and had a decent amount of kitchen and bath items and we loved the individual wall units in each room to maintain comfortable temperatures. Having Netflix in the bedroom was great for when we settled in to relax before bed. The bathroom is spacious but lacks any sort of ventilation so if you do your makeup at the sink after your shower as I do be prepared to wait a bit for it to defog or bring some paper towels in with you. As some other reviewers noted it can be noisy on Friday and Saturday nights, certainly no fault of the owner but something to be aware of. Likewise, you may have a herd of elephants for neighbors as we did a few nights. The wall between the parts of the duplex is pretty thin so the creaks and pops and bangs and stair climbing from next door were quite audible, we could also hear complete conversations next door particularly if we were in the bathroom. I brought a white noise machine and it helped drown out most of the sounds at night. I likewise brought a sleep mask and was glad I did because though there are blinds they do not block out all of the street light and as someone who has lived in the woods her whole life and is used to darkness at night it would have been impossible to sleep otherwise. I think some dark curtains over the blinds in the bedroom would help with that. We encountered some housekeeping issues that we chose to address ourselves and only let Kevin know upon our departure. He was apologetic and assured us if we had made him aware he'd have had them taken care of. I'm certain he would have, as he was always very responsive before and after our trip and quick to address questions or concerns. We only let him know of the cleanliness issues so it could be taken up with his housekeeping service (which he did the morning he got my e-mail) and future guests would not encounter similar issues. Kevin gets 5 stars, 4 for the apartment. Would stay again!
