Minutes away from the historic fishing village of Stonington Borough home to Capt. Palmer discoverer of Antarctica, Fort Griswold Revolutionary War battle site on the Groton Bank, Fort Trumbull that fell to an assault instigated by Benedict Arnold, Submarine Museum home of the USS Nautilus, the first nuclear powered submarine and first submarine to navigate beneath the North Pole, Bluff Point State Park, Haley Farm State park, Barn Island Wildlife Preserve, the Mystic Seaport Museum, and the Mystic Aquarium. This modernly designed historic top floor 2 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment sleeps up to 4 with a queen master bedroom and twin sized bunkbeds. Ideal for two adults and two children. The unit has high-speed Wi-Fi, 4K HDTV, washer & dryer, heating, and A/C. It features a fully equipped high-end kitchen, microwave, blender, toaster, cooking essentials, dishwasher, and a Keurig machine. There is 1 on-site parking space, and a shared common backyard space. The finishes and furniture are high-end. It was CLEAN! The location was great, right on the edge of downtown. The cons: Turning on the shower was difficult even for my husband who is extremely handy. Stepping up into a wet clawfoot tub is not ideal for every guest. There was only a towel bar for 2 towels, so I'd say it needs a couple hooks added in the bathroom or bedrooms. Lastly, the apartment had been sprayed heavily with fabreeze air freshener, and I am chemically sensitive. I had a bad headache for the first day, and washed all of the bedding to try to get rid of the scent. Most people do not realizes that air fresheners are highly toxic. The owner was extremely rude when I asked about the source of the fragrance. At first he said there was no fragrance in the apartment. I informed him there was a plastic tower pumping out fragrance in the hallway, and a different fragrance in the apartment. He told me he is is not a doctor and that I should not have booked the apartment. (I owned a short term rental in Boston for 2 1/2 years and understand business, real estate investing, and hospitality. This is not good business and not good hospitality.) ##### Amy C. The location is perfect, you can walk to everything in town. However, I wouldn't recommend this place if you have very little children. There is no AC in either bedroom and we have 2 toddlers. So the first day they woke up covered in sweat (and so did we in our bedroom). Our solution was to go out for dinner and blast the AC with the kids bedroom door open so it could cool down. The rest of the apartment was cold when we got home but this worked for them. There's also the barn door for the main bedroom that can't be locked. So all the toddlers want to do is open and close these doors, and they could get hurt. Why wouldn't you simply put a lock on the door for the bedroom? This is just bad design. Also-why make the bedrooms so absolutely tiny and the living spaces too big? I live in NYC and even I think these are small bedrooms especially when there's enough room to make it slightly bigger. Lastly, the cleaning staff is using so much bleach on the linens it smells like bleach when you go to bed or use a towel. It doesn't take that much. Overall I would recommend this place for adults and families with older children any time except for hot days of summer. Honestly, I just can't get past the fact that I paid that much to not have AC while I sleep in the middle of August. We left a day early because of this by the way. ##### jeff b. Super convenient to the downtown, very quiet neighborhood. Top floor apartment. Staircase to get in a bit steep (house circa 1840s) and the bathtub required some maneuvering for those of us in our mid 50s! Essentials (linens, utensils/dishes) provided for 4 people. Nice welcome gift and note. Good communication throughout the stay. Everything is new as seen in photos. Bedrooms were on the small side, but the rest of the place is as spacious as it looks.
