AAA+++ Upon getting to the hotel 15 minutes before Check-In time, we were told that housekeeping was running behind and that we would need to wait. We asked about upgrading to a different room that was already cleaned, but were told since we booked through VRBO that we could not complete ANY upgrades. Another VRBO booker also ran into horrible service with the front desk due to booking through VRBO (they were told to not even ask for more towels since they booked through VRBO). We finally got into our room at 5:45pm - we waited for 2 full hours. Others checking in that booked directly with the hotel were able to get into their rooms immediately. We were also required to pay a $150.00 Security Deposit since we booked through VRBO. Were were told it could be used as a credit at the pool bar, coffee shop, etc., but when we tried to do so, we were told differently. This Deposit was credited back at the end of our stay, but was very frustrating that we could not use it like we were instructed. ##### Carlyn D. The room is in a hotel right off the boardwalk and beach, location was great. I didn't realize it was Carolina Country Music Festival on the days we were there. Room was dated and always felt a bit humid even with the air on, but I assume that is because it is right off the beach. It was loud at night with the music from the pool area below us and the restaurant bar next to us. It did have a small kitchenette with minimal cooking and eating things to use. We did notice that there were always people using the pool areas that weren't guests at the hotel (sometimes groups of 10 or more people) and they were always loud and not very respectful of the property, pools and guests. When I asked staff about it, was told that they can't say much due to issues with perceived discrimination those people claimed from the staff when asked if they were guests of the hotel or were asked to show a room key.
