Very unprofessional
Most unprofessional Estate. I made a booking on Monday for a Friday, Saturday and Sunday but the very same Monday when the booking was made I found out that my aunt passed away. I immediately informed Hotels.com about my cancellation requests and they immediately informed Dunkeld Country Estate and requested a refund. Dunkeld Country Estate did not look at the situation from my humility and sympathetic point of view, they just referred us to their Terms and Conditions. So in my time of bereavement, I was then felt fighting Dunkeld Country Estate for a refund, as this situation was beyond my control. This company is very unprofessional and puts profit above all things but I will continue to fight this fight

uncomfortable and dirty rooms
The hotel facilities is out dated, resort staff is unfriendly and unhelpful, the Shop is not stocked with supplies with is an inconvenience over school holidays. The rooms are very dirty, furniture outdated, sleeper couch and beds in the bedroom is broken dirty and disgusting. Kids cant play outside and ride bicycles as Staff drives around the resort at high speeds day and night. This is a huge let down to the area and for the resort it once was. Our family had the same experience two years back and sad to see that this did not change. We will no longer travel or recommend Dunkeld Estate as a holiday or corporate get away.

Cottage needs a reno. Geyser heating up every 10 minutes 24 hours a day. Making a terrible noise during the night. Mouse in roof making it hard to sleep. Not cleaned top to bottom. Dirt on top op fridge and light fittings. Dangerously boiling hot water out of hot tap. Geyser problem. Mini golf clubs all broken and only a few available. Only tennis racquets for children. Seems a bit run down at the entertainment centre.

This is a beautiful place. Especially the equestrian site. I wish to own one of the houses. Can they give themselves time to spring clean the units especially after every check out.they have enough time to do that. They should also maintain the units properly

Not a good experience
1st place wasn't cleaned at 18:30,re located to another place, just to be hounded by numerous phone calls the next morning to pack and move again at 8, new place lots of hair in shower, had to be cleaned, bed uncomfortable, only sofa to sit on has a massive hole, can't sit on it at all.

Mixed feelings but pleasant enough overall
The photos used on the website, especially the cover photo, really misrepresent what awaits one upon arrival. Our booking was for 4 people (two adults and two children). Upon arrival, the lakeview chalet only had linen and towels for the adults. Eventually it was sorted out by the very helpful staff. The unit we stayed needs maintenance. The shower leaks as the panels don’t connect properly, there are holes in the the shower wall where there was previously presumably a shower tray, holes in the cupboard in the bedroom where there was previously presumably a suspended television, door handles and locks were difficult to work and didn’t close properly. The sleeper couch for the children was uneven and crooked, many of the sections bent and overall very uncomfortable. The setting is beautiful though, and as mentioned, the staff very helpful.

Great venue and good infrastructure in general although room maintenance was a bit poor, with multiple burnout bulbs and a malfunctioning DSTV (poor reception). Toiletry kit was limited to 1 small unit of a soap for the whole house.

Enjoyable family resort
Beautiful surroundings and comfortable units. A few small things needed that weren't in the unit (no matches for candles and hairdryer on request, but none available) but staff are happy to assist when asked. The 1883 restaurant had excellent food and goodies to buy, we didn't eat at the other restaurant (Sporting horse) because after 10 minutes with no one helping us we left. Overall a great resort for families, with an entertainment centre and lots of activities for kids. We enjoyed the hatchery tour and horseriding thoroughly.

Wish it was better
The female receptionist was not friendly and very helpful. Will did not feel welcome on our arrival. We requested two single rooms, they said this was not communicated with them by booking.com. When we wanted to pick up something that fell, we saw the beds were not cleaned underneath. There was at least 80+ little insects in our room that come from underneath the skirting in the toilet, possibly because of the rain. The gas fireplace was really very nice, as well as the room itself. The breakfast was average. The estate is very nice and has a relaxing atmosphere. For the price we paid I believe it could have been better.

It's OKish
The service was very poor. The staff are ruining the stay. We came for a wedding and had breakfast included. Most of the tables in the breakfast area did not have cutlery. You have to ask for your cutlery and ask for the tea and coffee. The breakfast choice was also limited.The staff look very miserable no smiley faces. At the wedding reception, there was no water on the tables and had to continuously ask for water. The fire went out and we had to ask the staff to put the fire on again. If you wanted something you had to stand up and find the staff, once again no smiley faces. Why are they so miserable?

We have stayed at Dunkeld in the past and enjoyed it and even recommended it to friends, but we were INCREDIBLY disappointed this time. We tried to phone the place ahead of time to adjust something on our reservation and no one helped us or phoned us back. When we arrived we were placed in a room next door to another room receiving a complete construction overhaul. The construction materials blocked our door the entire time we were there. We had to climb over PVC pipes, hose pipes and copper piping to go in and out of our room to our vehicle. The construction noise was so loud from just before 8 until 4 that there were times we could not even have a conversation in our room even when raising our voices. We complained at the front desk and were told that someone from the hotel would call us and discuss our disappointment and no one did. We actually ended up leaving a day early.
