The hotel looked like a nice and quiet place to spend a night when travelling from St John's to Cape St Mary's, and was near the Salmonier nature park that we wanted to visit. We had booked a king suite through Expedia and asked to be away from the elevators. It turns out that all the king suites are located right besides the single elevator. We decided on another room (queen bed) at the end of the corridor but this one was plagued by machinery noise coming from the roof - not something normal but a noise that made some things vibrate in the room. Back to the front desk, we almost decided to go elsewhere but the nice guy there (Paul) convinced the manager to let us have the "nuptial" king suite which was a bit further away from the elevator and on the other side of the corridor so we were pleased. This suite was a disappointment - the toilet made a nonstop leaking noise, the light and fan over the in-room spa kept starting because of a faulty motion detector (I had to remove the bulbs so we could sleep). The toilet seat was so close to the cabinet that we had to sit on it a bit sideways. The shower pole was rusty, and finally, one the remote control of the TV didn't work because its batteries had leaked and partly melted the case.
