It was fine in terms of size. The view was awesome (as advertised). The bed was too small. The hotel emailed me prior to our stay asking about bed size. I answered requesting the largest possible. It was 1.5 meters wide. Linens were average. So were the pillows. The AC did not work. The room was unbearably hot until after sunset. When I asked the front desk, I was told the AC was disabled because the sound of the compressor disturbed other guests. What!?! The noise from the road ruined our stay. Between 4:30 & 6:30 PM, Marsh Road is a racetrack. The same in the morning. Noise started at 5:30 AM - until after 8:30\. This is not something unique to our stay. We did not get a good nights sleep either night. The hotel is marketed as a 4 star property. It is not. Huge room and huge outside terrace . Staff were very friendly and attentive . Great breakfasts in the morning . Lovrf the view from terrace of Mossel Bay . Have already booked a night on my return up from the Garden Route . Our room overlooked the pool and beyond that there were glimpses of the bay. Parking was very tight. The sun deck in the Honeymoon suite had sun all day. The bedroom and bathroom were large and spacious. The breakfast was excellent too and cooked to order. There is secure car p-arking within the gates of the property. Our fan broke when we returned at 8:30 pm and there was no one to reach. It was unfortunate without air conditioning to have the fan break. Location on a major street was also a bit noisy. The room itself was nice and clean and the view was lovely. Parking and accessibility of the car parks can be quite difficult though. The staff weren’t that welcoming which was a shame and I think made a slight negative impact on our impression/stay. The room was as described and had terrific views from both the room and frombreakfast. and good service in general. The breakfasts were fine but all affected by load shedding. I appreciate they were out of the hotels control but surely if you know when the outage is you can prepare by having boiled kettles and flasks and toast too held in the oven . My other minor moan apart from the tiny pool was the difficulty of parking. It was very tight indeed. They had a free shuttle to several restaurants but when I researched them they were poorly rated. Ended up going to a locals “beach” bar called La Peron which was fun and great value and their sister restaurant called Butchers crossing steak house. Have to say Mossel Bay was a big disappointment in general apart from the nice beach. But no pork alternatives. It was amazing, but I want to highlight a specific aspect which rise above the rest: The welcoming chocolate, or bed time chocolates, was there every day. The filtered bottle water was replaced everyday. Fresh milk there was everyday in the fridge. These are things that was sorted. At other hotels and guest houses, they do it only the first day when you arrive. It annoys me, because if I checked in everyday, I would receive these benefits. But at other hotels they think it appropriate to short change you and do not change these consumables. Relaxing, full, neat and comfortable bath and shower facilities. That is a super big plus. Well done Aquamarine. Now, one gripe: please provide non-pork alternatives for breakfast.
