The entire hotel requires a face lift. Lack of staff as well. When trying to get issues sorted at reception and ordering food and drinks by the pool. We got loved 3 times for our room. 1st room has Ants in it, 2nd room was an accessibility room. And we finally got issued a room that was suitable.

The staff were exceptional. I arrived in Johannesburg at 0400hrs. Arrived at the Hotel at 0800hrs. The manager was brilliant in allowing a very early check in by 0830 hours. Normal check in time is 1400hrs. We really appreciated the early check in as we had been travelling all day. Breakfast was absolutely brilliant.

Sun city is always great. Lots of entertainment for the family, generally clean. Only critique would be that the elevators were old and had buttons missing (main hotel)

Had a great stay, very relaxing and rooms clean and well presented, but overall the resort is starting to look tired and not well maintained - swimming pools were dirty, filters blocked etc, no resort maps available anywhere so difficult to find our way around, draught taps in casino bars not working, ashtrays in casino not cleaned despite it not being very busy, tiles in restaurant broken and chipped not being repaired, water leak from ceiling so wet towels laid out on the floor, hotel lift not working, aviary a sorry state (hotel manager and concierge didn't even know what an aviary is let alone where it is!), tennis courts in need of resurfacing....lots of things that on their own not such an issue but combined don't paint a great picture. On the plus side, staff were friendly and helpful where they could be. Still, disappointing for a hotel that claims to be a 4 star hotel.

Valley of waves was under maintenance, no waves and was not informed of this. Still waiting for someone to come replace the safe after having them try twice to fix it, so no safe to lock valuables. No WiFi and complained multiple times and even spoke to the IT team that asked me to wait in the room and had no one show, then left my number for them to call me or I would even go to the office. Still waiting for the call, had no WiFi for the trip. Toilet did not flush properly and drains for basin and bath took ages to drain. Sliding door did not lock and just had a little catch and the screws were not tight. There was a door in the room that linked to the next room, it would vibrate each time the people next door moved past it and you could here all their business and activities. The staff are very friendly , sad about the services and lack of maintenance. No WiFi , no waves at the valley of waves, no safe, sliding door not locking , noisy room, no maintenance……

Our room was lovely, kept clean and acceptable. We found the outdoor areas needing some upgrades or redoing. The pool needs attention, the shell of the pool looks shabby, needs to be replaced.

Overall a good experience. Amenities/activities are plenty. But the room needs attention…. Mold in the bathroom, cabinets show wear(peeling wood) Carpets in the hallways show wear as well. I could tell that once this was a gorgeous facility. I understand that the pandemic hit hard, but I’m not sure that these things weren’t present pre-pandemic

The people in room 513 was very noisy until late at night making it difficult to sleep. On the casino floor it was difficult to get someone to assist with the machine when it jammed. Otherwise the stay was excellent and enjoyed the breakfast which was as good as always

Covid rules were not universally applied (sometimes the bus would get sanitised while you wait but mostly not, sometimes you were allowed to sit next to your family members on the bus and sometimes not). Rooms were clearly never vacuumed. Room service food is definitely not recommended. To add insult to injury, Sun international started offering a 4-day stay for the price of 3 days at The Palace which worked out cheaper than the 3 days I paid for at SoHo. Wish I could get my money back and go holiday somewhere else.....

Terrible client service, run down, and overpriced
The cleanliness of the room was not 100%. The hotel and room are run down, especially considering the price. I had a terrible client service experience. They forgot to take my credit card imprint at check in. After I put my dinner on the room and went to bed, the reception called me so I go back down to give my credit card imprint, I asked if I could do it in the morning because I was in bed already, the employee did not answer my question and went on to repeat the whole reason why I had to do it. She finally said after I requested an answer to my question that I had to come down that night, which I did. No effort was made to accommodate me or compensate for their mistake.

Overall Great stay
What was extraordinary about our stay was the seriousness with which the whole resort is taking cleanliness given the covid19 situation. There was an abundance of hand sanitizer and the staff were visibly cleaning and ensuring that spread of germs was not going to be an issue. Staff at soho were very courteous and efficient and the room was comfortable and clean. My only criticism was the Bocada restaurant at the Cascades. The prices of food are exceptionally excessive whilst the food itself was exceptionally average. The ambience needs to be improved as does the service of the staff.
