It’s definitely a good old northern cabin on the lake, outdated, and some spider webs. But, the lake was nice, nice dock, fire pit cozy, beds were comfy and we had a great time! What we remember lake cabins were like when we were young. Quiet nights listening to loons sing and during the day fishing from the dock. No frills, but yet everything you need. Gotta give credit where credit is due: It does serve its function: a cabin on the lake with a private dock.Pros: Beautiful view, private dock (caught 30 fish in 2.5 days), like new toilet, sink, and fridge, strong wifi, and fun rustic cabin feel.Cons: The cabin is run down and the actual structure is tilting/leaning. No smoke or carbon monoxide detectors. Very musty, dusty, and lots of cob webs. No AC and provided fans don't help much. The two bedrooms are not private and the floors rumble whenever the toilet is flushed. Back door is a screen door only with a weak lock (can easily be pulled open). The dock is super fun but always sways (a lot) when walking on it (to the point where it can be dizzying). On then last night mom did not get any sleep due to sounds in the floorboards and walls (could've been many things).I hate to sound so negative, but it would've been helpful had I known these details prior to booking. It was a special bday fishing trip (drove 1500 miles from WY) for my mom, and I was looking for something a little nicer to treat her to.With all that said, we did make the best of it, and ultimately enjoyed our stay as best we could (catching the 30 fish helped compensate for all the negatives). ##### Sean C. Entryway was dirty/cluttered. Carpets in living room had large stains. The twin bed just had mattress cover & quilt…no sheets. The outdoor Adirondack chairs were so dirty you did not want to use them. I understand it is just a cabin but you expect it to be clean….. inside and outside around the deck area. Had no problems but isn’t very secure. You only have a storm door to lock. No solid type door there. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and listening to the loons. Seeing the beautiful sunsets and sitting by the fire was so nice. With a little cleanup it would be a great place to visit. ##### Melinda W. I’ll admit, I was a little unsure of what we’d walk into when looking at the last few reviews from last year. Those renters were off their rockers! This is by no means a lake house, so don’t have those kinds of expectations. The neighbor is so safe, yes there is only a screen door coming in off the backside, but it’s really no different than sleeping in a tent when camping. Regarding the “dusty windows” from what I could tell, they were clean, they just have condensation fog in them from being either a little older or not top quality. The cabin was clean. We had no problems letting our toddler lay and play on the floor. We didn’t note any of the stains other guests had mentioned. The steps are uneven like people mentioned, but again, it’s a cute, rustic old cabin. It completely served our purpose and surpassed our expectations. When I had questions for the owner, she was SO quick to respond. Everything functioned as we would have expected. We will 100% stay here again if we come up again. :) ##### Nick & Adrianna P. This was the worst VRBO/rental we have ever reserved. The state of disrepair and lack of maintenance was horrendous. The security of the cabin was non-existent as there was no lock on the flimsy back door. All the issues we experienced are too numerous to list, but here are a few of them: 1\. Missing bedsheets & blankets. The ones that were available were ripped and seemed dirty. 2\. Cobwebs and stains on carpet throughout the cabin. 3.Tub didn't drain and mold/scum on shower liner. 4\. Windows so dirty we couldn't see clearly to the lake. 5.Campfire chairs broken and moldy. 6\. Broken window pane and a missing one in bathroom. 7\. Horrible, almost unusable cooking pans. 8\. Rusty and dirty freezer. 9.Cabin smelled awful after we removed the over-whelming room freshener. The pictures misrepresent how bad the cabin really is and not safe or healthy to rent. It should be demolished and removed from the VRBO listing! So very disappointing and we felt taken advantage of on this rental. ##### Mari B. It was really only a 2 bedroom which was fine for our family. The bedrooms did not have doors to them though. It was so quiet and we were surprised that there were not many boats on the lake. We had so much fun fishing out by the dock and we rented a Pontoon boat for only $100 at the Sand Resort that was very close by. We also made S'more's at the fire pit. At night we played board games at the kitchen table. This is the part that I kept thinking, "You get what you pay for!" The price of this rental is very low but I would rather pay a cleaning lady to come in to make sure that everything is clean because the cabin was very dirty. I spent the first hour of my trip cleaning the kitchen, refrigerator and bathroom. The toilet was actually black inside until I cleaned it. I tried to vacuum but the vacuum did not work well. The floors really needed to be cleaned. I specifically asked if the bedding had been washed because after seeing how dirty everything was, I didn't have much confidence that they had. I was told that the bedding had been washed but when going to bed we had to pick off long black hairs that were on the sheets. I am thinking that maybe they washed them at the Laundromat and the washer or dryer wasn't clean????? Cleaners could have knocked a few more cobwebs off of the light fixtures. The listing says "no towels". And there are NO towels. No paper towels, no kitchen towels, no towels. Bring towels. No biggie, but you should know this. The boat. The listing says that the boat comes with a full tank of gas. We rented the boat for 2 days and when we got into the boat it had 1/4 tank of gas but was told that that was enough. Well, it wasn't. Thankfully it rained most of day two so we didn't spend much time on the water. We were told that there was a 2.5 gallon tank of gas that we could use, but it maybe had half a gallon in it. Also, the boat was incredibly filthy. Grass, mud, bottle caps... it really needed a good cleaning. Also, we brought our tubes for our teens to have some water fun. The motor was super small and the boat couldn't go fast enough to make it fun. Thankfully we have great kids so they tried surfing and doing some crazy things to make it fun. So, the boat experience was a bit disappointing. That said, to leave it on a high note, the communication with Kaycee was great and Joe also replied very quickly. We would totally stay in the cabin again but probably skip the boat. If you don't mind toodling and not going fast, you may love it, though! ##### Gina C. My family had a great time! The lake was beautiful and clean- the kids swam every day. The yard was shaded enough to stay cool and out of the sun to play some games. We had some amazing sunsets from the fire pit and dock! The cabin could use some upgrades but had the essentials and that's exactly what we expected. Great stay! Thanks Kaycee! ##### Mesa R. The cabin is an older rustic cabin, nothing fancy, which is what we grew up with. Kaycee is great to work with, super responsive and easy to reach. The pontoon rental was a bonus. Had a great stay here. The cabin has amazing views of Sand Lake! Gave 4/5 stars because the back door was a screen door (a screen door lock isn’t strong so didn’t feel 100% safe).
