Just a cheap hotel

Posted 4-Dec-2017
Because it's cheaper than the average in the area my expectations were not high. Customer service is very good, but rooms and hall ways need renovations. The area is sketchy

I've stayed at this hotel twice. Pretty convenient location, the staff are competent and courteous. Only downsides are if you'd like a view from your room window and other guests possibly disrespecting your privacy. Not that I really blame the hotel for this but during my last stay, it was barely around 8:30 PM and someone from the neighboring room started knocking on the wall to complain about noise, which kind of ruined an intimate moment

Best location in Montreal.

The best part of my stay was a product of the help that Roger, one of the front desk associates, gave me. He was wonderful!

Walking distance to St Catherine

We had standard room with 2 beds. The room had plenty of space but smelled smoke in hallways. Good enough for night stay.

Cheap Hotel by price and quality to stay

Posted 1-Oct-2017
Pros: Nothing really
Cons: Build the new hotel with the same name
Location: Noisy small street , not far from downtown. Some garbage containers on the street.
Old small hotel with outdated everything. Screaming floor and doors. Tube TV !!! Not really usable. WiFi did not work in the room. A lot of street noise coming thru the window. No hotel parking for your car. Room is very small, hardly fit the double bed. If you do need just an any place to sleep, it will work well. If you want a bit comfort, should find another place.

Pros: Cheap. Decent for one night stay just to sleep.
Cons: Very outdated and security could be amped up more.
Location: Location was in the Gay Village of Montreal, right off of St. Catharine. 15 - 20 minute walk to Old Montreal.
When we showed up, our booking wasn't accepted on the hotel's end yet, so we almost didn't have a room even though we booked days prior to arriving. The gentleman was very nice, however, and it did work out in the end. I wasn't expecting much since I did read the reviews prior to booking, but it was decent for the money. Definitely a bit more "sketchy" and lots of homeless locals around that part of Montreal, but it was good enough for our one night stay and only used it to get ready and sleep in. Breakfast was on time with coffee and croissants. The croissants were hard as a rock, though and not edible. Coffee was terribly bitter. Elevator only goes up to level 3, then you have to walk up to the 4th floor. Definitely not a place I would stay in on the regular or by myself. But I was with 3 girlfriends for a night out at the Casino, and it served its purpose.

The hotel was in good condition. The room with one bed was small but due to noise coming from another guest room, the front desk offered us a larger suite for no additional charge. After all, it was late check-in so I did not expect other customers to arrive anyway. This was a very good gesture on the front desk staff. At check - in we were asked when do we want our breakfast to be served to our bedroom. In the morning we received in our room a tray with hot coffee/tea, one croissant per person and one bread bun along with butter and jam. We did not hear noise and the streets were quiet. We walked 10 minutes to get to the old Montreal to have nice dinner and visit its streets. Neighborhood seemed safe. This is not a very high end hotel like a Marriott, but clean and comfortable that I will book it again in the future. Please note there are 4 or 5 steps at the front to get into the hotel lobby.
