But… a hotel has one main job to do: provide a comfortable bed and pillow for a good night’s rest. Our three-night stay wasn’t great. Bed and pillows didn’t cut it. We liked the help with getting transportation and an excursion to the Cloud Forest Reserve, but we were always dreading the night’s sleep. The staff were friendly and welcoming and they use WhatsApp to communicate which was helpful. We are a family of 4, 2 kids, 2 adults so we had a large room with 4 beds which was nice but there was no place to store any of our belongings— one desk and 2 small night stands only, a shelf or dresser would be helpful. The included breakfast was good. My only complaint about it is that it is from 630-830 and we slept until 8 a couple days (we are on vacation and from an earlier time zone) and then missed it. We did do a hike from the property which was nice and saw monkeys outside our room— super cool! All the beddings feel wet. Especially at night it was so cold and uncomfortable. At checkout the owner took my credit card, write down the info instead of just charge it directly. I thought it was strange. So the charge came after I left the place and i noticed i was charged extra! I had to try to get a hold of the owner to correct the amount. Though it was corrected this was unnecessary stress for my trip. Certainly not perfect, it's not a 5 star resort, but for the price you have a comfortable safe property, toucans and hummingbirds with your yummy breakfast in the morning, and lots if places to relax and enjoy the stream going by the property or relax in the pool. The cabine was of very low standard in comparison to the weather condition. We hard 2 days storm and rain at night. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, and the nature trails on the property were a lot of fun for a self-guided walk. I think your experience at El Bosque likely depends on the room you're in, though. Our room had a number of sizable spiders that came out from behind the woodwork after dark, the shower "drain" was a slow-running hole in the wall, and we had a water leak from underneath our bathroom sink on the second night. However a different room (which they put us in for one night while they tried to deal with the spiders) was much nicer, with tighter seams around the ceiling and a traditional shower drain. So if you're bothered by things like that, I still suggest Hotel El Bosque...just get in touch with them prior to check-in and discuss room selection in advance. This one has noise coming from the 2nd floor as well as the neighbor. Wall are cardboard so we could barely sleep with noise. The other rooms num (4 +) seams more isolated from neighbors.
