Stayed here for a short trip to Monterey and it was a bit of a disappointment. One of the walls was punched by a fist, the wall paper was peeling and dirty, and the pillows were really really flat. I don't know if I consider the brown paper bag of random snacks, "breakfast". However, the staff was very friendly, and cordial.

We stayed at this property over the weekend for a biking event in Monterey with the rest of our group. The rooms are clean, location is convenient to the restaurants and there’s even a gas station in the property. Sarah the manager is very accommodating and she went above and beyond our expectations. Staff is awesome. We will definitely come back!

This is fine if you just need a bed and cup of coffee in the morning while visiting Monterey, Pacific Grove, Carmel or Pebble Beach.

Room wasn’t ready. Opened the door to a dirty room and had to go back to reception and get another room/key. The second room was clean, but drapes were falling off the window and handle was broken on the microwave. Also, reserved a room with 2 queen beds, and it was 2 double beds. Made for an uncomfortable sleep. Went in the am to discuss with front desk, but there was nobody there.

You can tell that the room had not been used for a few weeks. There was food in the refrigerator back from April 3rd based on the receipt attached. It was dusty as well. But aside from that it was decent. Area is nice if you drive some miles.

Wouldn’t stay here. Walks are thin so you can hear all the people around you, room is very small, and it’s located right off a busy street with lots of car and ambulance noise.

I booked two rooms for a trip with my family and my dad for my daughters birthday. I have never stayed in the area before and was unsure but it was in my price range. Definitely glad i picked this place. Staff was super friendly and absolutely amazing!!! The rooms were spacious and clean!!! I never once felt unsafe which was huge to me being in a new area. They even had a great little packed breakfast for us in the morning that was full of healthy great food!! My dad and my 4 kids (age 15 - 22) were very happy with it all as well. I will definitely be staying here the next time i come to Monterey!!!!

The facility was very nice with a lot of potential. The rooms could use updating but were still in good condition. Our TV didn't work but the staff worked hard to upgrade us to another room. We were very happy with our stay.

Don’t expect daily room cleaning. This property overbooks and won’t have sufficient staff to clean your room. Staff was apologetic and seem to care more for the “regulars”. Stayed 4 nights and staff had room cleaned only once with trash already piling up. Essential supplies were not re stocked. Location is inconvenient and in the middle of nowhere. Breakfast is okay and the room is clean upon check in. After which, you are on your own. Exterior of building is dusty due to trucks and cars from the street. Noise is bothersome. Won’t be coming back.

Grab and go breakfast was adequate (and we knew not to expect a full hot breakfast). Some work being done on the room still (former Howard Johnson). Front desk staff was super friendly. They even called during the day to check what time we’d be arriving so staff would be ready. AC/heater unit was nosier than average.

This is the third year in a row that we stayed here at the Monarch Valley Inn on our bike tour from Davis to Santa Barbara. We have loved staying there every time. The staff have been extra nice. The room is perfect, and the breakfast bag is enough to get us going on our riding for the day! We highly recommend the Monarch Valley Inn.

Very courteous, respectful and caring staff. Very clean and comfortable room. Bed was just right for my sleeping comfort. Gas station and small convenience store in adjacent. Relatively easy hwy access. Close to grocery stores.and dining. Will stay again!

Room was nice. Loved the microwave and refrigerator. The people who ran the property were the nicest people. Loved the breakfast bags. Only complaints: Shower didn't drain properly, and I hate standing in 3 inches of water when I'm showering. And took forever for the shower water to heat up from cold to warm.

This place was formerly a Howard Johnson Motel. Some of the signage left behind shows their logo. Overall, the place is a good value. We’ve stayed here twice, for an annual event we attend. This year the place seemed like it was running a bit smoother than last year. Easy check in and out, very friendly staff that seem to be doing the nest they can under the circumstances. What circumstances? you might ask…. Without beating around the bush, the place is in dire need of some maintenance. The rooms have tiny flat screen TV’s that were put in place of the large ones that used to be there. The holes and outline of the previous large TV are still there in the wall. It is the same in all rooms as we’ve stayed in two and saw many others. The lamps are the nice ones with an outlet and USB ports at the base, but all the ones I saw were in disrepair with loose outlets or broken and rusted (Marina is near the ocean after all) USB ports I would not trust to any electronics. Our friend stayed in another room which had a sink that sent water spraying all over when the faucet was turned on. Staff said they were aware of it but a plumber was not coming until Monday (this was Friday evening). The bathroom door in our room closed and latched but the lock only worked with the door open. All minor stuff that didn’t affect our one night stay, but does prevent a higher rating.

I loved staying at Monarch Valley Inn. The staff is very personalable. The price is awesome compared to other hotels in the area, its clean and gave a generous grap n go breakfast every morning. Ill definitely be back.

The customer service was amazing. Receptionist was very informative and suggested places to dine and locations to check out. It was a quiet stay. No problems with noise, rested quite well. Stayed there for 2 days. Both was good. Gas prices are the best right next door to the Inn. Many places to eat, if you look around locally and at a close driving distance. Monarch Inn has breakfast bags in the AM, with self served coffee in the office. We stayed in a room with a small balcony. The area is residential. So you will face peoples home properties right outside the balcony. Room had a nice decent size fridge. Kept things cold. Coffee machine in the room, Tv, bathroom and shower. Hot water pressure was very low. Took a long while to warm. I suggest leaving the water running for several minutes so it can lightly warm up. Air-conditioned room, hot or Cool air. Second suggestion, make sure your air conditioning filter is clean. I dusted it off really good outside, still made the room dusty & stuffy. Clean beds, very comfortable. We slept well above the allergies. Vinyl flooring, third suggestion, MUST walk around your room w slippers keep your feel or sox clean. Mahalo-
