The grounds are beautiful but My room looked was so old and tiny and dirty. The curtains were ripped up and being held together by safety pins, the bed looked like a twin sized bed. The bathroom was dirty. We didn't even stay the night. I asked the front desk to switch our room and they said they had no other available rooms but could not give me a refund either. We left 1 hour after getting there and booked a room at another hotel. I have submitted a request for refund with Expedia but still have heard back from them, it's been over a week

Asilomar is within walking distance to the most beautiful coast. For someone who wants to watch the waves and see incredible sunsets while sitting on the beach or on a bench nestled in the dunes, this is a great place to go!

It needs to renovated. There were spikes sticking up from where the carpets were pulling away from the floor. It wasn’t very clean either. There were lots of marks on the walls that looked like bugs were squashed in those spots. Carpets weren’t vacuumed well. Crumbs were on the ground when we entered the room. My son found an empty plastic bottle under one of the beds.

I liked the view and the trail to thr beach, it was quite the toom loomed clean however there was alot of loud annoying sound comig fromthe exaust fan in the bathroom when it was turned on. The patio slidding door haddle was broken and the side window.. also there was alot of cracking sound coming from a wall light...but the outdoor was amazing

This is a historic property that has seen better days. Handicapped people need to be very careful about where they stay, and access to parking etc. That said, it's mostly quiet, peaceful and close to the ocean. Listening to the waves at night beats a TV any day.

Be aware that the property itself is quite dated, but that’s why we loved it. Easy access to the beach and since we had two sunny days we used the large pool! This was our first time and we will definitely be back. The walls are a bit thin and we were able to hear everyone’s movements above and beside our room, thankfully everyone went to bed around the same time we did. If we had night owl neighbors I could see this being an issue. Very quaint, quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed having our morning coffee at the lodge by the fire. Amazing ambiance.

The rooms are very outdated. It was nice to disconnect from tv and some modern conveniences. The fireplace was nice. The walls were dirty and the wallpaper coming off. There was mold in the shower. The cleaning ladies tried but couldn’t scrub it off nor use bleach because it’s a harsh chemical.

Beautiful property, but felt like I was at summer camp. Beds/linens were clear, but fixtures and bathrooms needed to be redone. Air/heating was old and did not work properly and was loud.

The rain was coming down in buckets. We had already registered but my guest felt that it was noisy with uninterrupted and torrential rain outside. The outcome was that we returned our baggages to the car and went home. She's also deathly afraid of the weather as the vision was that we were unable to see in front of us. Please consider allowing us to stay at the hotel in a future day when the weather would not be an obstacle.

We love staying here, because wedont mind it being old school! Thats what we love about it. No TV, no elevators, no fancy anything and its perfect. The little cafe is so yummy and the views are perfect.

We had a handicap unit that the shower backed up in the night and flooded bathroom and carpet. The pushbutton door opener for wheelchair exiting didn't work. Cold water faucet at sink was broken. Closet doors were off track and wouldn't slide. Very poor lodging for the price charged. We have been there many times in past years and this was worst booking ever. Don't recommend .

Great location and access to the beach! Friendly staff and amazing communal areas. Great activities around the grounds with free tours and wonderful views. The staff were friendly, helpful, and accommodating all the way. Would stay here again for the vibes and activities. However, the room itself is mid at best. The pillows were hard, the bathtub was pealing, the sinks were small and little water sprinkled out, and the toilet was tiny. The beds were what you would expect from a motel. Stay here for the activities and not the comfort.

I attended conferences at Asilomar in the late 1980's. My memory of it was that it was an amazing place with great accommodations. I was disappointed with this visit. The property hasn't been updated since I last stayed there. The rooms are rundown and nothing has been modernized. The grounds are amazing, but if Asilomar wants to remain competitive and relevant it needs to be updated.

Old and rusty but location is amazing!! Wish staff was bit more friendlier and welcoming to accommodate for old and breaking apart buildings. Quite hours after 10 pm. Not allowed to use lobby for food. We were five families and arrived there at 8:00 pm but were not allowed to use lobby.
