Reserved this hotel as a surprise for my girlfriend. The plan was to propose to her on the resort being as Jamaica is and has been our favorite place to visit the last past few years. As a result, we have stayed in several hotels in Montego Bay and the surrounding areas, and Excellence was an overall disappointment. The staff and service did not live up to the name. It was far from excellent. Everytime, we requested something we were met with resistance and was put on hold, to eventually not get addressed. For example, our room smelt like sewage every single day of our stay & no matter how much we complained it seemed as if there was no remedy to this issue. The restaurants had extreme wait times when there were barely any guests seated and the servers had no sense of urgency or even the normal Jamaican hospitality you would expect. Out of all of the bartenders and servers literally, only 2 stood out. Which is is a disgrace for a place that’s named “Excellence”. The food was amazing, to get the food… not so much and the rooms are beautiful. The location is secluded and there isn’t much night life or entertainment so if you are looking to turn up, this is not the place. This is a hotel best suited for relaxation and couples. If the service was better the overall experience would have been much better.

Absolutely magical experience. From the minute you check in, you’re treated like royalty. The rooms and pools are well maintained. The ocean is surreal. The staff is incredible and the spa staff truly goes above and beyond also. With the incredible dining options and all inclusive drinks to match, you’ll never want to leave. I would be ecstatic to come back in the future. Thank you for everything, Excellence Oyster Bay! This vacation was everything I needed and more.

Super private resort with plenty of food options. The food was honestly the best part about the resort. The room was spacious and comfortable. Room service and front desk always ready to assistant. The resort grounds were always clean. Everything about our stay was good. The only areas that needs improvement is the mosquito issue. Had to get our room sprayed a couple times. Also the nightly entertainment was not entertainment was not entertaining whatsoever. It was more tailored to the older generation guests. Very calm and bland. Other than those 2 issues, this resort is great. 8/10

We liked the food and an entertainment. Unfortunately in the aquatic center the employee was discriminative and spoke to us in a disrespectfull manner. This should never happen in a 5 star resort.

The name has it all. Excellence!!, even with hurricane Beryl causing havc on lsland, Excellence went out of their way to give you the illusion that nothing occurred. Electricity never went out, food was fresh, and entertainment never ceased. Heck even my HBO in room worked!! this resort catered to those stranded while others kicked their clients out when their reservations ended. This is what true customer service is and how to retain loyal customers

Average resort. Not blown away. Doesn’t compare to other resorts we’ve stayed at like Unico 2087. Had a hard time receiving drink and food service by the pool. There were days where we were by the pool the majority of the day and didn’t receive service. Not a terrible experience but not a great one. Average.

Do not ever stay here. They treated us terribly during our stay, and essentially abandoned us in the middle of the hurricane with meal bags. They didn’t even make sure we had water, didn’t discuss a safety plan or anything. The next day no workers came back to work so for the rest of our trip we only had 1 dining place and 1 bar open. All flights were canceled and we literally we so bored at the resort and stuck there. Staff did not care, and when I asked about an evacuation plan they laughed in my face. I will never ever ever go back here. For the amount of money you’re spending it’s not worth it to go here. Also no Jamaican culture was highlighted at the resort they had American flags everywhere, and threw an Independence Day party for the 4th which I thought was so strange. Staff also had more of a desire to service white customers than black. I often had to wait at the bar for extended periods while other people were served first. I literally hated it so much, I’ve never been happier to come home.

I'm extremely disappointed in my experience with this hotel. I booked this trip in April as a surprise birthday gift for my partner. Unfortunately, there was hurricane and our flight was canceled the due to airport being closed. I thought the hotel would be understanding as there was literally no way for us to make it into the country amd even posted on their instagram page saying they would issue a refund. However, when I spoke with expedia they said the hotel would not give a refund and did not offer any alternatives. I'm extremely disappointed and would never book here again.

Pre-Hurricane Beryl - 6/29/2024: We got into our suite around 4 p.m. The room smelled bad and like mildew. We didn't even spend an hour in the room before the ceiling started leaking and flooded our room with water. We called the help desk twice, but no one showed up. I literally had to go to the lobby and tell them that our room was flooding. When maintenance finally arrived, we were told the flood was due to the guest above us leaving their jacuzzi water on (we were told their room was also flooded). We asked for a new room and didn’t get one until around 8:30 p.m. 7/3/2024: A day or two prior to 7/3, the staff were notifying everyone of preparations for Hurricane Beryl. One of those preparations included moving all the furniture on the balcony inside the room. Later that night, our second suite's ceiling started leaking, but this time we didn't have a clue until the person I was with slipped and fell into all the furniture inside. We called the help desk to see if they could bring us some towels to clean up the water. No one came to the room or called back to check on my guest who injured herself. I have heard about bad experiences, but this one was extremely bad. This resort should not be rated a 5-star resort; I think it should be downgraded to 3 or 4 stars. The only enjoyable part of this experience was the food—whoever the chef is, excellent job!

Great facility, they definitely strive for excellence. We really enjoyed the restaurants and the nightly entertainment, every night was date night. The staff were very helpful and we also love there 24 hours room service. The complementary spa treatment was amazing. We had an amazing experience.
