Fab hotel in great location for sight-seeing
Everything was fab about this hotel from the reception on arrival, the bar staff & the concierge. It was exceptionally well presented, with the novel aquarium lift in the centre.
My group (4 siblings & partners) bought the Berlin Travel Card as recommended by the concierge & it was well worth the 29 euros we paid, as you could use it on all public transport & got 25% discount off many of the attractions. We used the bus or the underground when we were too tired to walk!
We experienced the TV Tower (fantastic views over the whole city), the 1936 Olympic Stadium (well worth a visit), Charlottenburg Palace & Gardens (lovely in the sunshine), a boat trip on the River Spree (we only did the 1 hour trip but it was a great way of seeing parts of the city we hadn't seen by foot. Tip - Don't sit next to a speaker as you then struggle to hear the English commentary from your handheld device they give you.) We walked to The Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, The Reichstag Building, The Memorial to the Murdered Jews, The Holocaust Memorial which we didn't find to taxing.
We sampled breakfast at several places along the Karl Liebnecht Strasse, one particularly great one just on the hotel's doorstep & one called the Cafe Haus a bit further down. We had fab food & great banter with the very friendly staff at Emma's & at Gasthaus Julchen Hoppe (the other side of the park on Rathaus Strasse.) Try the Brauhaus Lemke Am Alex for beer. Berlin is a chilled city you cannot fail to enjoy it.
