The House The beach house experience creates a unique contrast for the modern day beachcomber. Offering the ultimate in privacy, the islands stunning natural beauty is highlighted by pure white beaches, turquoise waters, soaring granite boulders and lush green rainforest. Architect designed for the tropic climate and relaxed holiday living this pavilion style house nestles high in the trees with stunning Coral Sea views toward nearby Dunk Island. Thanks to a rare freehold title this exclusive island enclave features two private beaches, shared with only a handful of other residences. The Bedarra Beach House experience offers total relaxation that is far removed from commercialised resorts and over developed tourist towns. Spiritual in effect; the rare natural environment, privacy, seclusion and healthy living provide the ultimate tonic for modern life. Fact File What to wear? As you will transfer from Mission Beach by boat you'll need to wade through shallow waters and assist with luggage/groceries from/to the beach, boat and is suggested that you have shoes that are easily removed, and maybe a change of clothes eg shorts. In winter the evenings can be cool so please pack some warm clothes. What to pack? Basically as little as possible. A few casual clothes and one pair of shoes, maybe some sandals or bring towels and linen as the house is fully stocked. Do bring some of your favourite books, magazines, hat, camera, sunscreen, toothpaste, Ipod etc. If possible do not bring lots of little bags, but a duffle style bag that is easy to manage. Consider packing a small back pack and reef shoes for outdoor exploration. Water Transfers: Guest have always complained about the additional cost of transfers to Bedarra Island. We now have our own water taxi to provide a very personalised service to the island. You meet us at our mainland property where we load your luggage and supplies, we then travel together to Clump Pt whee we depart from. The voyage takes approximately 35-45 minutes. On arrival at Bedarra You will be met by our island caretaker's who will take you and your luggage and supplies to the house. Our caretakers will provide an orientation tour of the house, island and surrounds. Time to relax? There is chilled island spring water and ice in the fridge. Have a swing in the hammock before you unpack Any additional questions can be answered by our caretakers. If you any further questions they are only a phone call away. Unpacking We have conventional electric fridge as well as small bar fridge which is excellent for keeping your drinks chilled to the perfect temperature. Who to call? Hopefully no one, the house phone allows only local calls. Power The house runs on a sophisticated solar power system. The house was recently renovated and now has a massive 6.3kw system which has no limitations as far as normal use is concerned. Water This is a limited resource, please conserve it. The tap water is from an island spring, filtered, perfectly safe and wonderful to drink. Waste All garbage is removed by guests. Disposal of garbage is included in your Water Taxi fare. Please use strong garbage bags. Departure Your departure time would have been advised prior to your arrival. Our caretakers will contact you prior to departure to confirm the departure time. On the day of departure they will assist you with your luggage and rubbish. Mobile phones and internet Telstra mobile phones work very well on the island. Optus and some of the other companies do have problems. Telstra Bigpond wireless 3G internet device works well also. Heading up the winding path, we came to our secret hideaway for the next seven days. The Beach House is a beautiful home, set high among the tropical trees and overlooking the Coral Sea. The Beach House is very comfortable and has many wonderful features and artefacts. The design is perfect and we felt very comfortable there, reading, resting and relaxing. The ammenities available in the house were perfect and we spent the majority of our time on the deck relaxing reading books, listening to music and looking out over the bay towards Dunk Island. The house is a total getaway place that is very well appointed and you feel like you are thousands of miles from normal everyday life. The caretaker, Shaun, made our stay very comfortable and was very helpful in regards to the house and activities we could do on the island. The surrounds are postcard picture perfect. My husband and I just celebrated our honeymoon at this house, and we can't stop talking about it. Arrived to our groceries packed away our luggage awaiting. We could start relaxing immediately. I couldnt recommend it highly enough. The house is stunning and Bedarra is breathtaking. This is our 2nd visit to the Bedarra Beach House and without doubt it has to be one of the most beautiful places we have holidayed in the world. If you need to have time out from the busy day to day life routines and /or celebrate something in your life as a couple this is the place. We enjoy cooking and self catering for our "cocktail hour" so this place is great for us. There are no restaurants or distractions of the normal destination so you can just enjoy the tranquillity of the island. The first time we went we kept saying how lucky we are to have this place so close to home and we will make it an annual holiday. Stayed at the great Bedarra Beach House during the 2014 Christmas period. It was with great regret that we only booked 5 nights and not longer. This place is like your own piece of private paradise that allows you the peace and tranquility to just reset everything in your life. From our morning walks, many swims, great food, fine champagne and doing nothing else but relaxing, you would not find a more stunning location. We can say that this was the most memorable holiday we have encountered. From the moment you walk through the red entry doors of the Bedarra Beach House you immediately feel a sense of being at home. The house is presented to the highest of standard and is spacious and well designed with a great deck to take in the stunning views. The house is equipped with quality appliances including a dishwasher and the gourmet kitchen has every cooking utensil imaginable. The pantry is also well stocked with a great range of products/condiments that you may have forgotten. Bec (caretaker) provided excellent service and communication from our first dealings with her. The nicely chilled welcome bottle of Moet on arrival was a nice touch and a great way to kick off the Bedarra experience.
