Good hotel with great gluten free food
Stayed for a night and the hotel was nice. The gluten free menu was an excellent surprise and staff were helpful and knowledgeable

Friendly, warm, comfortable.
A friendly welcome, help with the cases, a spotless and comfortable room that looked to have been recently refurbished, a good range of choices for breakfast with excellent sausages and bacon. That's the hotel. The pub - good beer, a fine fire to sit near, spotless with no sticky patches on the bar top or on the floor. The owners should be justifiably proud of what they provide.

Convenient for M6. Rooms clean although smaller than they appeared in photos. Staff very helpful and found a wireless charger for my son's 'phone which had a dodgy charging socket.

Such friendly service, it was a wonderful place to stay. We had dinner and breakfast in the pub and all the food was great quality and good value. Great stop off location!

Excellent stay
We were just passing through for the night but definitely made the right choice staying at this hotel. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and the room was comfortable and pleasant. We also ate in the pub and food and service were great as was breakfast in the morning. The landlord really went out of his way to make the stay comfortable. Highly recommended.

Loved it!
Very, very good. Staff were pleasant and welcoming. I was slightly concerned that it may be noisey, being over the pub. No problem at all. We were on the first floor and there was no noise at all. A very pleasant bar, with log fire which was a very relaxing end to what were busy days. Breakfast excellent and very generous portions. Loved it and we'll be back. Very reasonable price for what you get.

Stayed here for one night during a cycling trip trough the UK. Super friendly and helpful staff. My bike could stay inside without any problem. Food was good, room was clean, comfortable and well decorated. Would definitely recommend.

The welcome was warm and first presentation of the room sealed first impression that this is a good place to stay. Food was freshly cooked, fresh vegetables etc. The beer was welcome. Staff friendly and helpful, meeting all of our needs. Get it while it's hot.

We found the manager to be particularly lovely and helpful. He even pointed us in the direction of a closer town to visit that would be less busy than the touristy lakes. The breakfast was locally sourced and delicious. We would definitely come back.

Short stay after visiting Safari Park
Grandparents taking three children to Safari Park nearby. Hotel room was excellent for access to children. Could have done with a bolt on the children's room at the top. Two flights if stairs to get to the room.

Sorry but the hotel is situated at the cross road with the A6 running directly in front of the Hotel which makes it very noisy most of the night with a few quite hours, we are not used to road noise at night. The main draw back to the room was that we had to move the bed so that one of us could walk around the bed to get into it. The on suite is good, with a good sized shower, clean and freshly tiled and upgraded. The windows are due to be replaced towards the end of the year as our windows were very draughty. The hotel staff are very friendly, varied menu and a good cooked breakfast and a choice of cereals. Hotel is within a 20 minute drive to the lakes and attractions.

The staff at this hotel are lovely, the beds are comfortable and the decor is in good taste. However the Bulls head has room for improvement. The biggest let down was the noise level at night, and whilst the road outside is never going to move, staff could have warned us about the karaoke night they were hosting. The breakfast also leaves a bad impression - better quality sausages and real coffee would go a long way.

We arrived for a family funeral + needed accommodation for 2 nights. Our room was on the second floor, and we found the stairs very steep with lack of banisters. After the first flight there was a single step which we were not told of and it was unmarked and my wife fell very heavily and injured her knees, causing distress and pain. The second flight was still steep but had more banisters. Certainly not very elderly friendly.

We were well pleased with our family room to sleep 3 adults. It was a twin room with single off it. (At the top of the pub) Newly refurbished. The single room did lack anywhere (not even a chair) to put a case on-no shelves/hanging space-and was very narrow. The TV was on a wall bracket, and there was a socket to use at waist height, which was good. The shower was very good and there were plenty of soft cosy towels. This accommodation was well priced for an overnight stay en transit, but might have been a little cramped for the third adult for a longer stay. A very good cooked breakfast was provided. Friendly staff greeted us. Would recommend and use again.

Newley Refurbished Rooms: Although the Bull has a mixed reputation locally due mainly to lack of investment, when I visited last week I found a well refurbished double room and on suite which whilst being small was comfortable and clean. The reception to the first and second floor rooms is via the ground floor bar and snug and it is this area which requires refurbishment. The breakfast was excellent with cereal, full English, coffee /tea and fruit juice. The breakfast room was refurbished, comfortable and over looks the A6 Kendal cross roads. Great value for money and good location for exploring the southern Lakes and Kendal.

Strange design of the 5 people bedroom
The 5 people bedroom is combined with a double bed bedroom and a bunk bed with a single bed bed room. Those two rooms have separate entrance and connect through the bathroom. That mean one should go to another room through the bathroom or the public corridor. However, the owner only give us the key of entrance door of one of the rooms. When some one is using the bathroom, the room without the key is isolated. We need to leave somebody in that room in order to open the entrance door for others. We have requested the remaining key but the owner said that the key would be given to us on the other day which is the day we left. It is really ridiculous. Not a bad place though.

Disappointing stay in mediocre Pub
After seeing the reviews indicating great food we were hoping to enjoy a decent meal in a nice pub. The pub is neglected, the food decidedly average and the service poor. The pub needs decorating and the staff need to understand what is meant by customer service. Cutlery and crockery is not washed properly. First night I opted for the mixed grill while my partner had the steak and Guinness pie. The pie was good but the peas uncooked, hard and cold. The mixed grill was OK but again peas were uncooked. The condiments are the cheapest available. The breakfasts were deep fried, tea and coffee weak and tasteless. We were served a huge plate of pre buttered (or marged) toast without being asked brown or white or having the choice to not have margarine. We both have bites from something in the bed. The room was the best bit being quite a new addition with a great power shower. The pub had no Guinness despite having the pump on the bar (maybe it all went in the pie). Saturday night Karaoke was buzzing with a full five people in the pub and the Karaoke man laughing all the way to the bank. Second morning we had poached eggs on dry toast and only suffered average coffee. I hope the owners read this as the place could easily be so much better.

Very old hotel in need af a great deal of restoration work, some had been done but the whole place was a bit shabby. My headroom window wouldn't open, stuck down with paint. Personally thought the English breakfast was of poor quality.
