This secluded and tranquil cottage on a 20 acre hobby farm is the perfect getaway. With walking trails from the back door to Abbott's Mill Nature Center on the adjacent property, it is perfect for birders, nature lovers, or just for a nice walk. We are an easy 15 minute drive from the DE Turf Sports Complex on Rt. 1 north of Milford and 35 minutes from Sports at the Beach near Georgetown. The cottage is small but feels spacious with a vaulted living room ceiling and open floor plan. There is lots of natural light with large windows throughout and french doors onto the beautiful screened porch. There is a gas grill just out the back door. The porch makes for wonderful indoor/outdoor living; deer can often be spotted in the wooded side yard or in the meadow out back. Wild turkeys show up occasionally as well. The cottage is shaded and air conditioned for wonderful summer days and evenings and the radiant floor heat makes it cozy and warm in the winter. Take a walk to the creek at the rear of the property or stroll through the woods to Abbott's Mill Nature Center. Abbott's is a 313-acre Nature Preserve and features trails open to the public, a preserved gristmill, a pond, meadows, an animal collection, and educational programs. They also host Music at the Mill on select summer weekends. The Atlantic Ocean and Delaware Bay beaches are nearby. Lewes (30 minutes), Rehoboth Beach (30 minutes), and Ocean City, Maryland (45 minutes) are popular beach destinations. Other nearby attractions are Cape Henlopen State Park, Killens Pond State Park, and the Cape May/Lewes Ferry. Delaware Bay beaches are popular for hunting for sea glass and are only 15 to 20 minutes away. Enjoy tax free shopping at the Tanger Outlets near Rehoboth Beach. The Miller’s exceeded all expectations with an immaculately clean home, beautiful property and awesome animals my 3 year old (and my wife and I lol) loved feeding and petting. Having small children, we were so happy that it was only 1 floor having great space for all of our needs including the screen room to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning. We chose this cottage due to the presence of goats (who doesn’t love goats!) and were pleasantly surprised by having cows at our disposal, too! The cottage is located on a family property and has ample parking for multiple cars. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals; it has a keurig for morning coffee which we happily drank on the screened-in porch (under the watchful eye of the farm animals nearby at the fence!) You can access walking trails from the property which takes you to a nearby nature preserve- the walk is flat and very accessible. Less than a ten minute drive away is the town of Milford which had some super cute boutiques, antique stores, art galleries, and a great Mexican restaurant. The owners of the property, Duane and Theresa, were gracious, friendly and very accommodating. Clean-up and check-out were a breeze! Each of us intends to go back with our own families and we definitely want to spend another girls weekend here. Home is clean and very welcoming. It has everything you need for day to day activities, whether you are cookimg and staying in or goimg out. The host was wonderful, the cottage was clean, well-stocked, charming and comfortable, and it was perfect for my family. We loved the cottage, which is in a perfect location. We were minutes away from the fairgrounds where we had a tournament, and the beaches were nearby as well. We could quickly and easily get any food or supplies that we needed, but the farm is surrounded by beautiful nature - it was the best of both worlds. Lastly, the cows and goats were so sweet and charming! This group of city people were delighted to get to interact with them, and the boys loved them so much, we heard them telling their teammates about them. . Family of 5 in town for a lacrosse tournament at DE turf fields. Amazing location for this purpose. The house and property were awesome and clean. Our kids (even the teens) really enjoyed the farm animals! The home is in a quiet neighborhood and very close to everything in town. The owners were EXTREMELY accommodating, going above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. They even stepped in as much as to call around to their friends to find us a shower chair when I forgot to bring ours from home. They brought the kids corn hole to play. I didnt realize when i booked how amazing the property is. We were greated by their goats and cat named double stuff. My 12 year old instantly fell in love and we all felt at home. Only 15 minutes to the fields. It was adorable and very clean. The hosts were very quick to respond if I had any questions.
