The Sunset Roost offers quiet solitude in a beautiful foothill setting. The Sunset Roost is a three bedroom, two-bath manufactured home that has been fully renovated inside and out. It is tastefully decorated throughout. Sunset Roost is designed for adults as a non-smoking property. Artwork from local artists adorns every room and spills into the Outdoor Living Room and gardens. And the sunset view is what you will always remember! An open floor plan invites interaction throughout the living area. The large peninsula counter separates the kitchen from the dining area and provides plenty of prep space for creating meals or picnic lunches to take into Yosemite. It’s also a great place for breakfast before you head out for the day. This opens into the living room, which truly is a room with a view! A leather sofa and love seat face one another and look out over the deck towards the Merced River Canyon. The futon day-bed is the perfect place to lounge and enjoy the view (it is also a double bed). Each of the three bedrooms has a character of its own. The master bedroom is outfitted with a king sized bed with a down comforter. There is a large bathtub and separate shower in the master bath, as well as double sinks. The second and third bedrooms are located on the opposite end of the house adjacent to the second bathroom. Both have queen size beds with down comforters. The Wildflower Room has a tall sleigh bed and colorful photography from the surrounding foothills and high country. The Half Dome Room has a low platform bed to allow full view from its second (west facing) window. Local art depicting Yosemite’s most recognizable icon adorns the walls. Enter the Outdoor Living Room through either of the glass doors onto the deck. Defined mostly by the 800 square foot redwood deck and hot tub, you will find yourself spending considerable quality time out here. Outdoor meals are wonderful with the evening breeze and unobstructed sunset views. The deck table seats six. Cook outside on the propane BBQ while you relax on a pair of chaise lounges. It is a bit hard to say where the Outdoor Living Room ends and the yard begins. A lush green lawn invites you to spend your afternoon in the shade of the pines relaxing in the hammock. The gardens are filled with flowers, herbs, and native plants which keep the birds, bees and butterflies happy. Wildlife is abundant at The Roost. You may see deer, bobcat, birds, fox, turkey, peacocks, squirrels, raccoons, and bats. The Sunset Roost offers all the comforts of home. Whether your idea of vacationing involves cooking gourmet meals or take-n-bake pizza, the full amenity kitchen has everything you will need. The home theater system includes a high quality Onkyo Dolby Digital surround sound receiver, DVD player and UHD TV. Wireless DSL is provided. Of course there are plenty of pillows and blankets to keep you comfortable. The washer and dryer are available if you’re on an extended holiday. The Sunset Roost is conveniently located in the community of Midpines, California along the Highway 140 corridor. It is a 25-mile drive to the Yosemite National Park boundary along the “all weather highway” which follows the Wild and Scenic Merced River (it is 37 miles to Yosemite Village from the Roost). The gold rush town of Mariposa is 10 miles to the West. Merced is 45 miles, and the Fresno airport is a 90-minute drive. The Merced River Recreation Area (Briceburg) is less than 7 miles away. There is plenty to do in the area. Most visitors will go into Yosemite, but some, who seek solitude, will be quite satisfied to avoid the crowds. The historic town of Mariposa offers shops, restaurants, groceries, gas and supplies. Outdoor recreation abounds! Whitewater Rafting and kayaking are excellent in the spring. Birding, hiking, fishing, swimming, sunbathing, mountain biking, and gold panning are popular along the Merced River and in The Park. Yosemite is a Mecca for rock climbers from around the world! There is something for everyone to do while staying at the Sunset Roost, even if you never leave the property. We, the owners of the Sunset Roost, have lived here since 2000 and have explored much of the region. We are available to answer questions about our area. We only used the Master bedroom for just us two. We love space, and also own a 3 bedroom so this fit us perfectly. We had more then enough amenities during the rainy days. This trip was strictly to relax for our Christmas , and the Roost was perfect to make that happen. The hosts were accommodating and responsive in their communication. Everything in the house was labeled and there were a lot of kitchen appliances, dishes, towels, extra blankets, etc. The hot tub was perfect and the outdoor shower was AMAZING. I loved it so much we decided to install one at our house! This was about an hr. drive to the park entrance and was perfect for park activities and also our "rest day". We walked the 1.3 miles around the property and enjoyed all the flora and fauna. In the morning we saw quail, wild turkeys, a deer once right outside on our lawn!, coyotes, and lots of hummingbirds-- which was a real treat. We spent our mornings drinking coffee on the back deck and watching the sun come over the mountains. Perfection. The washer and dryer work really well, as so do both televisions. They've supplied the cabin with lots of books and maps about the area which were super helpful. The road leading up is very easy to navigate, in case you're worried about that. There wasn't any cooking or vegetable oil, nor are there any shampoos or lotions, but there are large bottles of body wash. I didn't expect these things, but sometimes they're provided so just letting people know what you need to bring. There are hair dryers, toilet paper, plastic baggies, etc. It was very well-equipped. The futon is exceptionally nice, not like a college futon of times past- I slept on it twice and was very comfortable. A. It was so nice to be able to explore during the early mornings Yosemite and Mariposa Grove (about an hour drive to entrance), then come back when the crowds got out and just relax. The property and clean. It was well stocked and had extras if we needed. I appreciated the labels on items to help navigate. Lots of towels! For the home and beach! The hammock, outdoor shower, and hot tub were favorites as well. Beds were comfortable. The hosts communicated promptly. We very much enjoyed this property and would book again!! ##### Sarah S. Tracy contacted us several months before and advised us to get park reservations which was great. The property is lovely, so well equipped. The beds were really comfy and the hot tub was fab. The sunset views are amazing after a long hike and has all the amenities necessary for indoor and outdoor cooking. We enjoyed breakfast on the deck, surrounded by trees, and ended each day soaking in the jacuzzi while watching a beautiful sunset. My 5-year-old said he was so happy to stay there and wants to go back soon, and so do I. Everything was clean and thoughtfully prepared. Tracy and David were very responsive. A peaceful and scenic stay. It was the best experience I’ve had staying in a vacation rental home. Thank you so much! ##### Minjin K. Our only regret is that we didn’t budget a day to just check out Mariposa and spend more time enjoying the property.The home is appointed with everything you could need, and is a pretty straight shot to Yosemite in 1.25 hours. Having groceries down the road about 15 minutes in Mariposa was a real convenience being so isolated. We loved our evenings on the patio, what a gorgeous view! ##### Christina S. We absolutely loved staying at the Sunset Roost. The home was very clean and comfortable and had everything you needed to cook , play games or read a book. There is a very nice view of the mountains and we enjoyed the pretty sunsets. It was so peaceful and quiet and there was plenty of grounds to explore and sitting places the owners created either out of wood or there were chairs to sit in. We were able to enjoy Yosemite knowing we had a nice place to come back to. The owners were great and gave recommendations on places to eat and shopping which is in the town of Mariposa. You can see and feel the love and attention to detail that went into the design and execution of this home. A beautiful kitchen, lovely hot tub and outdoor shower and comfy beds. The house has almost everything you can think of you will need even super fast internet. Really quiet and peaceful. The beds are really comfortable.
