A little tired...

Posted 12-Feb-2018
This hotel was just ok, needs some updating, bed was lumpy, but the price was right. If you don't need all the bells and whistles, this is a great location for partying!

Dirty hotel on Ocean Dr in South Beach

Posted 8-Feb-2018
Room cleanliness was a joke. We've traveled 20 countries around the world. We've stayed in a lot of places. The initial experience was right up there with the worst. The room pictures we were given while booking were not close to what we received. All the finishes in the room were chipped, cracked or broken. Even the entry door was broken! It stuck so bad that you really had to put your weight in it to get it open. We took the manager on a room tour... by the end he was laughing (we were all laughing).. the room was hideous and he knew it. They did upgrade us to a balcony room. It was more spacious but still really dirty. Huge stains on carpet, shower that needed work, toilet that constantly ran, hot water that took five full minutes to heat up, old couch, dirty bench. The breakfast buffet was small and the same every day. They can blast music until 5AM but promptly close the breakfast buffet at 10AM during the week. IF YOU ARE A LIGHT SLEEPER, YOU WILL NOT SLEEP HERE! The party/club music goes all night. The staff is hit or miss. The positives. You're in South Beach. The water is beautiful.

Great place to party not to sleep

Posted 4-Jan-2018
Pros: close to ocean.
Cons: hotel management appears to be least concerned with hotel customers and more concerned with selling food and drinks.
Location: everything in south beach area including proximity to ocean.
The hotel appears to be more concerned with providing a healthy atmosphere for patrons attending their restaurant and bar facility. Our first night at the Breakwater Hotel was December 31, 2017, New Years Eve night and it was some what understandable that the party and live band would end by 5:00 am. However, the following night January 1, 2018, the party continued to nearly 3:00 am. My wife called the front desk at 10:00 pm to complain and speak with the manager. She was told that they could not accommodate a room change, the music would end at 2:00 am and no manager was available for her to speak with. The vast majority of all rooms at this facility surround the stage where the live band performs. When the band is not on stage, music is pumping via sound tracks. Better yet try sleeping during the day if you want stay at this facility. During my next visit to the Miami South Beach area, I'll either stay on Collins Ave or one block further away. Better yet, why not stay in Fort Lauderdale and commute to the Beach.

A nice last minute stay for New Years, but paper thin walls and windows prevented any decent sleep. Would consider coming back on a day other than a holiday.

Nice hotel- restaurant food needs work

Posted 18-Dec-2017
Nice hotel- terrible restaurant. My overpriced veggie wrap with “fresh seasonal vegetables” looked suspiciously like Green Giant microwaved veggies. Flavorless. My daughter’s overpriced chicken Parmesan tasted like a frozen pressed-chicken patty with red sauce and cheese from a school cafeteria. It was all lukewarm. Convinced the kitchen consisted of an oven, microwave, and a toaster. Our server didn’t check on us once during the meal.

Art Deco hotel with today's charm.

Posted 5-Dec-2017
Pros: Great atmosphere, restaurant and exciting entertainment al fresco next to the hotel!
Cons: Minor repairs in the bathroom.
Location: Located within easy walking to day activities, museums, and night life.
Had a great stay for 4 days with all activities and attractions right in the area, beach is across the street with beach accessories provided by the hotel.
