apartment was ok apart from the shower being over the toilet! but be aware that buses from catania airport to taormina stop at 7pm, leaving only an extremely expensive taxi option (190 euros). this left us broke as our plane was delayed, and also shouted at by owner of the apartments for arriving late. apartment was quite nice and homely, and very close to the centre of taormina
Before we booked we asked, are the photos really what we are to expect and we were reassured that they were. On arriving however we were given the ground floor apartment - lovely but no view. The manager was really friendly & helpful though and moved us up a floor as soon as one became available and we enjoyed a lovely studio apartment with fabulous views across the sea. I wonder though if in the height of a busy season would this have been possible.
The hotel is outside of the town Taormina so a car is useful to get into town etc. The area was ideal for us as it was quiet (maybe out of season still?) but there is a train track just behind the hotel which is noisy and could be disturbing to some. We also enjoyed the beach being only a few steps from the hotel. We had a lovely stay, it was comfortable and clean and the manager was attentive. We would stay there again.
"Nice hotel, close to the beach. very helpful owner"
We (me & my 21 year old daughter) booked late and late in the season (mid Sept) yet couldn't be happier with our choice and the value for money. 5 mins walk from the best sandy beach in Giardinni Naxos, a short bus ride from Taormina, (The beach there is rocky). A long promenade with restaurants and bars plus all the necessary shops (chemists, supermarkets etc).
The owner Alessandro was extremely helpful, arranging a car from the bus to take us to/from the airport having previously rung me (he speaks good English) and told me how easy the bus would be (7 euros each way compared to a taxi at £55). He also gave us free wifi all week and use of a safe.
The outside pool is brand new & beautifully clean. The accommodation was perfect for our requirements, a good sized 2 bed room with an ensuite shower room with wc and bidet. The room had a patio terrace to well tended gardens. The only thing I would change to give an excellent rating would be the addition of air conditioning. We managed with the ceiling fan but in the height of summer it may have been very hot at night.
The place is beautiful and littered with archaeological remains. The public transport is cheap & easy to use. There's plenty to see, do and visit including the Aeolian islands. A week wasn't long enough- we intend to return!!
"Great apartment just down the street from hotel!"
Apartment was just down the street from hotel with access to all facilities. It had a fabulous private balcony and a spacious living area. Was up in third floor with stairs being quite an effort! Perfecto!!
What a stunning apartment. The decor and artwork were lovely. We had a fully equipped kitchen including microwave and dishwasher. The bedroom was upstairs but has a second toilet upstairs as well as a full bathroom downstairs. There was a lovely shady garden to relax in.
The apartment is almost in the Duomo Square so perfectly located for getting anywhere in Taormina.
The town itself is beautiful with amazing views, although so overwhelmed by tourists it's hard to find the " real Italy". We prefer the smaller out of the way places with few tourists but Taormina is a must see and this is a perfect place to stay for this.
