The cabin is in a great location for bike enthusiasts. It’s not far from the Mercer paved bike trails that connect with Heart of Vilas trails, and also close to WinMan trails for mountain biking. The location was easy to find, amenities provided were more than adequate, and the cabin was clean. The location on Portage Lake would make an ideal place for summer water activities. We found the cabin and town very accommodating and pleasant (when stores were open - realizing we visited during off-season). It's a great location right on the lake and close to downtown and many other attractions withing driving distance. Various water crafts are available for your use. We took the canoe out a couple of times and kayaked on one gorgeous morning. My husband tried his hand at fishing but didn't have much luck. The cabin itself is fully stocked with every imaginable item you might need. The owner was extremely prompt in communicating with us and the check-in process was a breeze. We enjoyed the loons singing and diving and even had a deer run across the backyard while having my morning coffee. It was very peaceful and quiet there, which was just what we were looking for.
