This Beautiful Cabin was taken timber by timber from its original location in Kentucky. IT is new-old construction taking over a year to build. Construction finish date was February 6th 2015\. It is a sister cabin to 'Away from it All' vrbo-480579 which many of you have had the pleasure of staying in. The cabin is model pre-civil war construction, it was reconstructed using modern mortar technique and then added on to in its current location. The Cabin sits near the end of a private dirt and gravel road behind a locked gate. Fenced yard for your doggies! Secluded is an understatement. It is situated on a bluff overlooking the Crystal Clear East Fork of the Little River, just below a waterfall which can be heard as soon as you open the door to the car during the wetter seasons. We have an inviting large covered front porch with swing and with a larger open uncovered front porch with ample log furniture where many a book has been read in the fragrant mountain air. The Cabin itself retains all of its antique charm as you enter the Great room with its stone double sided wood-burning fireplace serving the great-room and the Master bedroom both located on the lower floor. The Upstairs is separated by a staircase that leads to a private spacious upper loft that contains three Queen Beds. The Master Bedroom downstairs is off of the Great-room and is garnered with mountain views through perfectly placed casement windows and King Bed, situated perfectly so that you can see the woods and sunrise from the bed. Off of the Master Bedroom is a Beautiful Master bath with stone walk in shower and copper slipper tub, set below a large window overlooking the woods. All sinks were imported from a copper-smith in Mexico. There is a fully functional kitchen with stainless appliances/dishwasher/stove/oven/refrigerator/freezer/microwave and all cooking supplies you will need. One Bathroom Downstairs off of the Great-room with a combo-shower and bath, and a Master Bath off of the Master Bedroom with a Walk in Stone Shower, and Large Copper Slipper Tub. High Efficiency Kenmore Washer and Dryer. 2 Flat Screen TV's up and downstairs with Roku/DVD/WII/Wireless Internet/Dish Network/Central Heat and Air. Land-line phone is present. Cell phone coverage is available from the front porch though spotty at times. I-phones work great through I-message or KIK/any internet messaging service. There is a Master Bedroom that overlooks a large elevated back porch over the river canyon and the river can be heard from an open window. There is a large stone hearth wood burning fireplace in the bedroom. The Bedroom opens onto a cozy screened in porch with a 5 person water therapy spa/hot-tub. There is a charcoal grill on the back porch. There is a fire-pit and picnic area above the river, and a built in gravel trail with staircases to the river itself where depending on the water level you can swim/float/fish/lounge or sit in the crystal clear mountain water. The house is about 10 minutes from Downtown Mentone, AL and 15 minutes from Fort Payne, AL for antique shopping/cultural activity/or fantastic food and music at the Wildflower Cafe or other restaurants. The canyon is also about 10 minutes away, and 5 Minutes from Alpine Boys Camp, Desoto State Park, Desoto Waterfall, and Lake. There are wildflowers galore and wild blueberries and blackberries and plums along the road depending on the season. Wildlife abounds everywhere. The Tin Roof provides a great sound to sleep to when it rains. There is a Fenced yard on the side of house for pets. The Cabin is behind a locked gate on a private road, it is very secluded. We accept 1-2 day rentals during the week-Mon-Thursday depending on availability, and 3 day rentals for the weekends. Just input your dates and I will get back with you with our availability by email or text. Wood is available for purchase, please see contract for the pricing. When you ask about dates we will respond with a contract sent to your email address if your dates are accepted and available. All dates are first come-first serve, so please respond quickly when you receive a contract. If you wait to make a decision then check the calendar again to be sure it still shows your dates available, it is updated several times a day as reservations are made. I can't think of a more peaceful location for a couple to spend.We actually got a cellular signal most of the time. WiFi worked great. TV worked well, but we did not waste time on TV. It is very much off the beaten path, but not far from nice restaurants, grocery stores, etc. I just loved sitting by the fire with my wife. Some of the furnishings brought back memories of yesteryear.To me, this is an ideal getaway for an adult couple or perhaps a group of 4 friends. If you have small chlidren, they will have to play inside, or be taken elsewhere if they want to hike, etc. But those are close by at DeSoto State Park and several other areas close by.The kitchen is small, but well stocked with all the devices etc you need to prepare meals. I enjoyed grilling on the ample deck space. We will definitely go back!aIt's a very unique restoration. Beautiful copper tub and awesome shower. Nice hot tub on deck . The sound of the water in the canyon is so soothing. The VRBO description of this unique cabin doesn't do it justice. The great room is well appointed and nostalgic, with a small open kitchen space, large table perfect for playing board games, a huge TV and plenty of DVDs and games, and a large, comfy couch. The bathrooms are pristine, but the en suite bathroom is a stunner, with a huge copper bathtub, walk-in stone shower, dual vanities, and big windows looking out toward the fire pit. There's a comfortable king-size bed in the main bedroom and a loft space with three more nice beds and a TV. Out back is a wonderful huge hot tub in the screened-in porch and a really nice grill. Lots of charming decor touches, including an abundance of owls -- we had fun finding them all. We would absolutely stay here again! ##### Kristen R. My wife and I stayed here for our 20th wedding anniversary. It was very peaceful to sit on the back porch in the morning and enjoy a cup of coffee while listening to the creek down the hill. We spent most of our time out exploring the area and played golf at the Lil Mole. But in the evenings it was nice to come back to the cabin once again enjoy the peace and tranquility of being away from the rest of the world.
