Great location in the Heart of Essaouira.
The Riad Al Madina is a great Moroccan hotel in the heart of a truly amazing place. From stepping out of the front door you are in the narrow paved streets of the Madina. This is the Third time I have stayed here and would return again.

A very good bargain.
More shabby than shabby chic, but some staff lovely some could do with cheering up Their wi-fi is better than most and the hotel is also the centre of the Medina. Their restaurant is too expensive so eat out. The room really is only for sleeping in. My TV was old and had awful reception. If bored take a book. The chairs on the balconies, terraces could be cleaned of bird muck more frequently. However it has a charm that you won't forget.

Would not hesitate to return
Lovely staff. The central courtyard and roof terrace are what makes this such a pleasant place to stay light and airy. Rooms can be a little noisy, but staff will do their best to find the room which suits you best. I would not hesitate to come back.

Very nice
There is no WIFI in the room which is a bit inconvenient. But overall, it is a very lovely hotel and the decorations are pretty. We really enjoyed our time stayed there. If we go back to Essaouira, we will stay there again.

Pleasant, good value and quiet
Pleasant enough, and good value. Room was clean and tidy, but the bed was a bit narrow and the room a bit spartan. Breakfast was ok. Best thing was that it was in a quiet location, with the rooms away from street noise and the seagulls (which can be really noisy in Essaouira).

An 18th century road right in the centre of things
Good traditional riad in old town. Surprisingly quiet for where it is situated.lovely central courtyard. Reasonable breakfast. The rooms we had were in the second house. Good sized accommodation but no internet access from there. Lovely rooftop terrace with Multiple levels.

Pretty good
Good location, Old morococan theme. Breakfast good and nice atmosphere. But evening meals tiring. Upgraded to a triple room and shower was hot - so good. Friendly staff - and felt safe. Room 13 - the Hendrix room was visited. Car parking instruction could have been better.

The Windy City
This Riad is well situated in the town from which it is easy to walk to the exciting port or to the beautiful but wind swept beach. There are many excellent restaurants and wherever you visit people are very warm and friendly.

Beautiful riad with a lovely courtyard
Our family (me, my wife, two daughters 14 and 20, and father -in-law 86) had a lovely week in Essaouira staying in this riad. The roof terrace can be used for relaxing or sunbathing. Friendly staff, a little French goes a long way. The breakfast is simple (bread, pancakes, olives, tomatoes, eggs) but there is a toaster and it was just what we wanted. It is located right in the medina and not far from the port or beach. Just ask at reception if you want to hire bikes.

Great location for friendly Riad
Perfect location in the centre of the madina. The staff were all very friendly and happy to help. Riad Al Madina has a great roof terrace with different areas where you could sunbathe, escape the wind and have a little privacy if you wanted it. We found the food to be good and the room was spacious and comfortable. We did use the heater on an evening as it was chilly. The bathroom is typical for a riad and we always had hot water when needed. We stayed a week here, just to relax and escape the British weather. The only thing I really didn't like was the market at Hadra. It's a market for locals and not aimed at the tourist. The fishing port and beach are a must visit as is the Fort where we paid 10 Dirham each to go in, worth it just to use the toilet. We are already looking forward to returning in the future.

Gorgeous riad in the middle of everything
Wish we'd stayed longer at Riad al Medina - one night wasn't enough! It's perfectly situated in the centre of town, near to the souks on one side and the beach on the other. Radiant white walls with two central courtyards - one open to the sky and the other covered over and where the restaurant is situated. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious and the staff were both friendly and helpful. The room itself (40) got the morning sunlight, a welcome change from the cooler weather of Marrakech. The room had a small sitting area as well as the bedroom, and the small bathroom. All rooms were spotlessly clean, well decorated and thoroughly comfortable. Really recommend this place for a stay if you're visiting Essaouira. Very reasonable price for a lovely stay.

Great location
Great location although the room I was staying in was dated and need some update. The hotel itself was in a great location and the rooftop was very nice as well as the central lobby. If you are using the room just to sleep and will be out most of the day, it is wonderfully centrally located

lovely oasis in the medina
Great location in the medina. We stayed here at the end of our holiday in Morocco with the view to relaxing and this is exactly what we got. The Riad has a lovely sun terrace on the top floor with shade and sunbeds depending on your preference. It is close to market stalls, cafes, restaurants etc. and the staff provided us with a map on request although a walk down the front (approx 20-30 min stroll) is well worth while. The room was fairly basic but very comfortable, fresh towels and bedding provided daily. We didnt eat in the riad as we prefer to try local restaurants but the food did smell very appertising

A few annoyances, but good overall
Great location, right at the heart of the old town. The roof terrace was a good little hideaway from the hassle of the main town. The breakfast was good and filling. It won't win any awards, but it will set you up for the day. Room was clean and everything worked. The down sides were that the guy that was sometimes on reception was a grumpy pain in the bum, they charged us a lot of money for a 20 second phone call to Marrakesch (although we didn't ask how much it would be beforehand so our fault, really), and the room was a little on the small side for the price (we got a differnt hotel in for our last night which was bigger, similar loacation and was much cheaper).

Quiet, tucked away, but close to center. B'fast was basic but tastey. Hotel organised taxi which was there waiting for us. Taxi driver ripped us off from airport - and I tipped him. (found out later they dont expect a tip)

Good choice Riad
Attractive Riad. Beautiful courtyard setting for drinks and breakfast. Very central location within the medina.Spacious sun terrace, very relaxing. Buffet breakfast good choice and great coffee. Room adequate but not luxurious. Bathroom very tired although water always hot. Cleaned every day with new towels. Staff in reception and restaurant didn't speak much and not very friendly, no information given on arrival or during stay.No Expedia rep called. We found our way around by getting lost. A good introduction to Morocco without quite as much hastle as in Marrakech.

Riads
Its a beautiful Riad, its got a very good location, and its certinly a very picturesque buliding, there are many posotive things I could say about it , I did rate it a 4 out of 5, but I feel compeled to mention we had no hot water in our room so we got moved to a room with hot water, and they told us breakfast was included and then at breakfast they said it was no longer included, so make sure you have a print out stating what you get when you go there

This is a place to visit
This town is a gem - much nicer and more low key than Marakesh. Visually stunning. The hotel is lovely, low-key. The room was as pictured -- large in a very old riad. It is not a chain-type hotel, but a real Moroccan treasure.

Du bekommst das was du zahlst.

Riad sobrevalorado.
