Rustic Two Level Tree Lodge Surrounded By The Forest With Fireplace And Fire Pit

  • The Tree Lodge is nestled away in the forest and has lots of space in its dual level design. On the lower level, there is a large living/dining room with two rocking chairs next to a wood burning fireplace. Next to a large picture window which looks out into the forest is a full sized bed. On the east side of the Lodge, you enter through a side door into a full length screened in porch which faces out into the forest. There are extra folding camping chairs located in this area which can be used on the porch or around the outdoor fire place. The kitchen has a two-burner cooktop, two small refrigerators (one with a freezer), a microwave, crock pot, coffee maker, a large toaster oven, and all the necessary kitchen utensils and dinnerware. Also on the lower level is a ¾ bathroom with a shower.

The upper level has a smaller living room with a single bed isolated with a privacy screen on the south side. There is a sink with a large vanity mirror on the east side. Two additional bedrooms each have two single beds which can be pushed together if desired. Each bedroom has a spectacular view out into the forest. A ¾ bathroom with a shower is located on this level too.

A CD/cassette player, outdoor fire pit, picnic table, table fans as well as ceiling fans, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, additional oil filled space heater, off peak electric storage heater, base board heaters, and a larger outdoor grill are also available.

Not as advertised

Cabin is much, much smaller than pictures make it look. The cabin IS surrounded by forest, but also surrounded by other cabins, which was left out of the listing. Fortunately it was so cold no one was outside, but I could see it being disappointing if you think you’re surrounded by forest, and you’re actually surrounded by a lot of other people. It was a struggle to get in touch with the host for check in information (it was not sent automatically). We had to call Vrbo and have them nudge him to reach out to us. The host was very nice once he responded, but not knowing your check in information before you’re supposed to head to your destination is stressful. Cabin was clean and cute, but so much smaller on the inside. It says it sleeps 7, but I can’t imagine 7 people fitting in there without having to be on separate floors. The ceiling in the upstairs bathroom was leaking, so it wasn’t possible to get ready in that bathroom while also staying dry. For the price it really wasn’t worth it. Overall a disappointing experience that we’d really been looking forward to.

Mice

Left early due to mice, animals looked sad and uncared for, pictures are not an accurate description

We fell in love with the Shire in the Woods!

We had an amazing experience renting the tree lodge at the Shire in the Woods. Michael was very helpful and easy to communicate with. They took Covid precautions and the cabin was exceptionally clean. We had an amazing time, saw a baby black bear alongside the road and a lot of wildlife. We had fun making a bonfire and grilling outside and listening to all the sounds of nature. We are already planning our next trip back.

A perfect getaway from the city life

A wonderful experience of the tranquility of nature. With the help of a strong mosquito repellent hiking in the woods was easier. We explored the Banning State park, boating on Lake Mille Lacs, and swimming in a nearby lake. Mike was very gracious with suggestions for places to explore. Could not have found a better way to relax especially during the covid times where we needed to maintain social distancing. Hope to explore more at my next visit.
